Is anybody else obsessed by Durham's applicants portal thing where you can see the status of your application? I am, that's for sure...

I loved Durham so much when I visited it though...

Are you saying that if it says: "Your application has been received by a College" on the AES page, then you are likely to get an offer? Are you just guessing, or have you been told this? I hope you are right

If it's been passed to a college it means the department has accepted you. There is a very small chance you won't get an offer, but it's very likley you will. Whether it's your first choice college depends on if there is space for you (subject quotas and the like) and if there isn't space for you you'll get sent to another college.

It's all explained here.

Does anyone have any information about when the Politics department will start giving offers?

Wow awesome, that's amazing I'm so frikin' jealous but happy for you!

Now that you're in... can you please tell them to cut my wait and just send through an unconditional offer... please?

But seriously, well done.

Another one! Well done to you too, it's very unlikely you won't get an offer now.

No it's definitely true. Like I've said before, although the odds aren't for certain, an applicant can be pretty sure of getting an offer if their application has been forwarded to a college. This basically indicates that the department in question has approved of your application and has thereby decided to give you an offer; the subsequent college section is only to find you accommodation etc etc. Nevertheless, the AES does mention that in a small number of cases, if several colleges are unable to find room for you, it's possible that you could be rejected.

I hope this helps

Aye it is seriously addictive! You can't help but hope that Durham might suddenly give you an offer, whether or not there is any substantial likelihood of that occurring Grey looks nice, doesn't it? I had considered applying there, but was drawn towards St. John's because of the Christian ethos thing...

My cousin did geography there: loved it but she said maybe she would have preferred a Hill college just because there's (apparently) more going on *shrugs*
She did say the trainee vicars (or whatever it is) are mostly really cool though
I haven't actually visited Grey... I visited Trev's and Hatfield on the open day so it was purely on the website and my cousin's advice that I chose it hope I made the right choice

I'm sure you made the right choice I think with the Hill Colleges, there tends to be more people, so naturally there'll be a greater variety of things happening Not too sure though. Is Durham nice, because I haven't actually visited?

Depends what you want, I think
I don't go in so much for big nights out, so it doesn't bother me that the city isn't very big and nightclub opportunities are fairly limited, but if that's your thing then I suppose Newcastle is about... I can't remember, but not far away on the train.
I loved the city, it reminded me of a little town on the continent actually with it's beautiful river and all that, and then there's the huuuuge cathedral which is just amazing
I'm sure you'll love it
