    English GCSE non-fiction prose.
    Hi everybody. As you see from the title, I'm taking my 2nd GCSE English paper tomorrow. It composes of:

    -:- Writing to Argue/Persuade/Advise;
    -:- Writing to Analyse/Review/Comment;
    -:- Unprepared Non-Fiction.

    Anyway, I feel pretty confident about the first two, but would like some help with what to write in the unprepared non-fiction bit. It is usually based on a newspaper article, or extract from 'travel writing'. Should I concentrate more on language devices or the meaning and purpose of the extract... any ideas appreciated. Thanks

    If I remember rightly, they give you questions that point you to what you should be talking about. Focus on content as well as literary techniques, the purpose of the extract and its intended audience is normally hugely important, and whether they are trying to argue/persuade/advise etc.
