Re: Maths Uni Chatlol, yes it's a strange concept. I guess it could be traced back to a classic simpsons episode where lisa's bully could 'smell' nerds/geeks.(Original post by boromir9111)

nerds/geeks are linked with intelligence.

Re: Maths Uni ChatWHICH ONES?(Original post by jj193)
Simps is on stackexchange, i'm pretty sure I remember seeing some posts by his username.
Got a few of my results back, 100% in 2 exams. Rubbish mark for my essay, for which I spent a 6 weeks in the library total reading background material (feels like more work then I did all year!) my personal tutor is just impossible to please.
Nice, I didn't get 100 in anything last year. -
Re: Maths Uni ChatSorry.(Original post by around)
Went to see Coldplay in Washington DC yesterday.

Re: Maths Uni Chat
I should read this thread more. I don't study Pure Mathematics any more as it's too stressful. I have mostly been studying Artificial intelligence and programming.
I'm currently trying to write a program using genetic algorithms to solve the Travelling purchaser problem.
P.S. Does programming language matter? As people talk crap about Java and I'm using it. Surely, the programming language shouldn't matter.Last edited by Simplicity; 23-07-2012 at 00:36. -

Re: Maths Uni ChatAround (har de har).(Original post by around)
whatup, where you been
Well...
- Left the MMath course after a devastating set of January results
- Due to having loads of level 4 courses (which were the ones I failed) I had to find a way back onto the BSc...
- So I suspended my studies and will resit 3rd year in October, only on the BSc instead of the MMath.
I have also been spending less time on the internets in general, as I've been working pretty much full time since I suspended. -
Re: Maths Uni Chat
I'm very tempted to get this for the title alone.
Problem I saw (I'd have done applied if the questions were like this rather than nasty calculations): You have a swinging pendulum. Is the acceleration ever horizontal? (And if so, where?) Is it ever zero?Last edited by harr; 25-07-2012 at 18:34.
