Yep that's Perry Barr... obviously you're not local but PB has an awful rep around these parts, I wouldn't have touched a house there with a bargepole. Not that that's helpful to you in any way but at least you're safe now and I'm going to be commuting (y)
this polish guy "bumped into you" this black/asian kid tried to mug OP, trashed his mates car for parking in front of the house, broke into his house, and caused hell to his life.
How can you not expect anyone to feel slightly racist to people if **** like this happens? I'm not white myself but if my kinda people were causing this kind of **** towards people, i'd understand why they'd feel that way. OP hasn't said he hates them, he says he feels unintentionally racist. Feeling unintentionally racist and full racial hatred/inciting racial hatred is a different thing
A family friend moved to London and was subjected to things far worse than that and the motive behind these were considered to be racist, at least by the police. She did not intentionally or un-intentionally feel racist towards white people. Many people are subjected to such things and may at the height of their struggle feel some resentment towards those they hold accountable but after they realize that not EVERY single person who is Asian Muslim or Black can be held accountable for a few retards.
OP has said if we're reading this he has escaped or is escaping his 'peril' and so I don't understand why there is still this racism directed towards three set groups. Sure the psychological effect of his drama means it’s still an issue but moving further into Birmingham ( a multi-cultural city) and assuming where he’s moved to has this diverse range of people he realizes that not everyone is the same.
I can understand unintentional racism up to a point in the OP’s case I really can’t.
I also don’t understand how his experience links in with hating Muslims.

yea that's true, but if it gets drilled into you due to your situation, it's difficult to realise such a thing. You can't call the OP an idiot/stupid for something that has affected him pretty badly. For example, if you're scared of dogs - have one bad experience - you're likely going to not like dogs in fear that they will bite you or w/e when in fact, lots of dogs are really friendly. It's not as if you fully hate dogs and that you want to kill them all, but you feel slightly wary when around them. OP probably feels this exact way
I feel really sorry for you. It's not nice to go through that, especially when away from family. However, nothing justifies you being racist. Not all Asians are out to get you.
I very nearly moved to Perry Barr myself when I first came to Birmingham. However, thankfully I didn't. I’m going to BCU this year. It's fine during the daytime as I’ve been there many times, not sure about evenings or nights though.
I live in Birmingham and Perry Barr and some its neighbouring areas tend to get a lot of bad press. A friend of mine was assaulted by a group of black girls on the bus for simply talking in Handsworth. I've only visited BCU (and Perry Barr) once to meet up with some friends studying there, and it did not look like a nice place at all. Also, the university itself is situated in a very odd place.
Wtf is Visual Communication and why do you waste your time studying it?
Visual Communication is the posh word for Graphic Design, that is, artwork used for consumption rather than for the sake of being "art"
Things like billboards, logos, nightclub posters, packaging for anything and everything, CD covers, web design ALL fall under visual communication.
my specialism is in art direction and creative thinking, I.E. I'm the ideas man. The guy that comes up with all those clever ideas for adverts that you see on billboards or on the telly.
Also, I forgot to mention in my OP that I LOVE my course, I study it in the BIAD which is in the city center and its amazing. I just hated where I lived. So by all means, the university itself isn't bad.
Where the hell in harborne do you live? From what i know, its full of black gangs and im being serious. theres a local crew called Too Dark and those pricks are considered to be the most rough people in birmingham. I live in Quinton, on the edge of harborne and i never go into there because i get chased each time lol. Anyway yeah, Perry Barr is bad but be thankful your accommadation wasn't in Aston or ladywood. Or small heath, where i am typing while listening to a fight outside between some bros.

I understand that but my issue is the fact that he says he's escaped and he still has the same view towards those three groups.
If a dog bites you of course you'll be scared and fair enough at the OP being scared there is no denying I would be too, but after a while you start to realize that not all dogs are the same and slowly your fear starts to fade and you can see clearly.
You're right calling him stupid after what he has been through is unfair but I still resent the fact that he labelled everyone he hates into neat little groups. Blacks, Asains and Muslims.
I still don't get the whole hating the Muslim issue either.

That's EXACTLY how I feel, I'm glad there is some sense in this sea of overly PC bandwagon jumpers.

i dunno i disagree with this, it doesn't just magically disappear by escaping the problem. Something else needs to happen - help? i dunno. Take for example spiders: i ******* hate them haha but i know full well that they aren't poisonous, can't hurt me, and i can end their life in an instant if i so wish to but i avoid them like the plague cos i'm a big girl It's all well and easy to say "oh you can forget about it after time" when you yourself haven't experienced what OP experienced
Holy ****, that sounds pretty intense. Great read, glad to hear it worked out fine in the end. To be honest I wouldn't care about those last three months of rent, I wouldn't screw the landlord over, I'd simply tell him "Look, I'll continue paying for the rest of the contract but you can have the house, I'm moving out."

Oi Small Heath is ok... even nice at times, even though most people avoid it at all costs and call it hell on earth
Burger Bar Boys are generally considered to be the most notorious gang around.

Quinton is the bad side of Harborne nearer to selly oak if i recall correctly, I know what you're talking about as I've researched the area before moving to be sure that I'm not jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire, so to speak. Of course there are going to be bad eggs in any community, but from what i can tell out of all the looking I've done, Harborne is one of the best area's
I'm not asking for much, I just want an area where I feel safe walking to the train station every day.

Oh yeah, that's basically what i did, My girlfriend let me stay with her for free, I just had to pay for my own food.
I stayed with her until the end of my contract and then we found a place together
