Should I get a laptop for my course?? (Computer science - Software Engineering)

I dont know wether to get a laptop for my course? I would of thought it would be an essential for it but I dont wanna get one just to find out that all I need to do is use the uni lap pc's, then I might aswell get a netbook to take down notes or whatever.. I do have a relatively high spec pc at home (Im living at home).

Anyone help me out please? Maybe someone who is doing/finishing the course??
