Hiya!!

I was getting worried that I was the only one applying there lol!
Apparently there are no uni halls of residence in Uxbridge so the uni help you find private accommodation. There are loads of student flats and houses though because Brunel University is in the same town so there's lots of students by the sounds of it.

Have you applied yet? I sent my application off last Monday (22nd Sept) and I got a phone call yesterday afternoon inviting me to an interview on the 7th October at 12pm.

ah really? i thought they were moving to uxbridge.. unless i got confused haha. that sounds so hard now >< but if we still getting put with random people then that's cool knowing me i'd be the only one with out accommodation!! i havent sent mine off yet coz im still looking through other unis. i did my personal statement last year so i should be able to get it done soon once i've got my other prospectuses and decided on the other 4 and omg we have interviewwwsss eurgh i suck at those! i panic too much 0_o but good luck with yours!

btw i was literally just looking at de montfort uni sounds alright but i was looking up the nursing accommodation in waterway gardens and it sounds like it'd be a bit more expensive than normal accommodation do you know if those bedrooms are ensuite or shared bathrooms?

The interview is at the new nursing campus at 106 Oxford Road, Uxbridge. I got sent a map today explaining how to get there from the tube station as I will be coming into central London and then getting the tube from Euston to Uxbridge.

The letter says that the interview is in a group and you discuss a topic so at least we aren't interviewed individually, takes a bit of pressure off lol! There's also a 30 minute maths test (they've sent some example questions and they don't look too tricky thankfully!) and then a 45 minute english task. It doesn't look too bad, the bit I'm worried about is making sure I don't get lost as I'm coming down on my own and I'm quite nervous about being in london on my own for the first time lol!

DMU does look really nice, I dont know anything about the accommodation though sorry. I live not far from leicester so if I go there I will live at home.

Do you know where else you're going to apply?

ah well im glad it's a group interview! sometimes i think those individual interviews dont do the person justice if they're nervous [:

london's awesome! got to oxford street topshop afterwards will make you feel better hahaha. i hate having to find my way around places on my own if i've never been there before, but finding your way there is always worse than finding your way back in my opinion! im feeling quite nervous about the whole thing really im two years behind my friends and whereas they've had no time to think too much about it all and just went straight for it, i think the wait has made me worse XD

ahh i remember hearing something about them moving the nursing campus now.. or something similar. i'll have to do a bit more reading me thinks.

ah fair doos i was looking at dmu last night, seems pretty nice plus they all look like normal houses haha but you have to hire the washing machine

atm i'm looking at dmu, bucks new, bedfordshire, hertfordshire, middlesex, bradford, canterbury and maybe greenwich and sheffield hallam i applied last year but withdrew coz i really hadnt thought it through so im being extra thorough this time lmao

xxxx

Yeah I agree with you there, if its just me and the interviewer I tend to babble lol!

Thanks for the tip about Oxford Street, that's deff a good bit of advice lol! I love London, thats one of the reasons I chose Bucks as its so close to central London but it is nerve-racking going there on my own for the first time lol! I agree about it being worse on the way there than the way back. Once im at the uni I think I'll be ok (or at least I hope so!) Apparently the uni is a 5 min walk from Uxbridge tube station so I'll have to wait and see how easy it is to find lol!

Im in the same boat as you when it comes to withdrawing and re-applying. I applied in 2007 and had conditional offers for DMU, Cov and Birmingham City but I had to withdraw because I left my access course due to illness so I've really made an effort this time around to be really organised and know my stuff about all my choices and keep organised

hopefully it wont be like southbank uni i was so confused when my ex went there for an open day and i went with him. they just look like normal building and no real signs, i was like omg seriously where is it?! haha hopefully bucks wont be like that

i applied last year and withdrew at christmas because i chickened out. ive never been really good at anything and i panicked that i would completely fail at nursing coz of silly little reason like i have a weak stomach but mostly if i havent psyched myself up in the morning and that i wasnt allowed to do biology at a level but my grandparents and my boyfriend said if i really really want to do it, i'll find solutions to the little problems in the end. even though they laughed when i told them my life ambition of becoming a matron! bloody cheek haha.

type it in to google maps and print of the directions thing haha i always do that im such a loser. although the unis do give directions from the nearest train/ tube station but i still get lost!

I've totally mapped out my route from Uxbridge tube station to the nursing campus and it actually looks quite simple so Im hoping it will be when Im actually there lol! I think its just one big building so it shouldnt be too confusing. If I do mess it up somewhere I'll just ring the uni and ask for directions lol!

I'm exactly the same as you, I get nervous over the smallest things and it makes me feel ill so this is a huge deal to me and I'm terrified I'll mess it up. It's probably the biggest thing I've ever done in my life so far. I think that's good advice about when you really want something you'll find solutions, that's the way I'm looking at it. I just keep telling myself I'll be ok

haha if i got lost i'd be too petrified to ring! XD

same for me too going to uni and doing nursing is probably the biggest decision of my life so far!

my boyfriend came up with that idea haha. i've got a ever so slight weak stomach, but you know all depends on what i've just seen! i was a bit worried i wouldnt be able to curb it and it'd stop me from nursing, but he said if i really want to do something i should go for it and deal with things like that when it comes to it

*puts hynotherapist on speed dial*

Hiya!!!

I had my nursing interview at Uxbridge yesterday and it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be at all lol!

We were given a name sticker and went into a room where all of our documents were checked (birth and education certificates etc) before being split into groups of around 6 to 8. Each group went off to a different room.
In my group there was 8 of us and the first thing we did was a group interview with 2 of the nursing staff and and a lady who is from a local charity. We each had to introduce ourselves and then they asked questions like what qualities do you have that would make you a good nurse, what sort of things do nurses do on a day-to-day basis, what challenges could you meet while on the course, etc. It took about 20 mins or so.
Then you all have an english and maths task. The maths paper was all about decimals, fractions, percentages and conversions, the first few questions were quite easy and they got harder towards the end and it took about 30 mins.
The english task was basically reading a passage and making sure you could understand it and then we had to write 250 words on a topic we were given, that took about 45 mins.
To finish, we had a presentation all about the uni, course, placements etc which basically answered any questions anyone had.
The staff were all lovely and I was really impressed with the campus, its easy to find and brand new.

Hope that helps lol

oo! doesnt sound too bad actually are you going in for the feb or september intake?

haha i'd hate to answer the 'what qualities do you have?' one.. i'd be like 'eerr im good at cleaning :|' i dont get why that questions always stumps me!

oh and you know when you take in your education certificates right.. it's the ones you get after you've got your result slips yess? and do we need our GCSEs ones aswell or just just our A level ones?
