UCAS Reference- Advice???

I'm applying for an Engineering course this year and I'm kind of confused as to which teachers to ask for references.

Since its an Engineering Course, I should ask my Math/Phy teachers for my refernces right?

The thing is that my Phy and Math teachers are new and they don't know me that well. So even though they might write good things about me the references would be kind of generic i think. But, my English teacher has known me for 5 years and i know she'll make it personal (I'm one of her favorite students so that should be a plus right?).

So advice? Which teacher/s should i ask?

Do you get to choose who writes it? At my school the head of year gets the opinions of all of my subject teachers and then puts it together. I think the English teacher would be best as she knows you well and will be best able to 'sell' you to unis as she knows your good points, but I doubt she knows how well suited you are for Engineering so ask her to get the opinion of your relevant subject teachers.
