I would recommend recording them - your notes won't produce anything like the level of accuracy a recording will and if you are quoting from interviews, you need to do so verbatim. There really are a number of definite advantages to tape recording: you can listen to them over again which could potentially help if you detect changes in tone of voice and you may also not take note of something that later emerges as being clearly important for your work.

So yes, tape the interviews.

I was recommended to do just that when doing some interviews for my uni work in the second year. Plus, the mini recorders (can't remember exactly what you call them now :confused:) you can use aren't that pricey.
