I'm aiming to send mine by the end of next week. I was reading in the Leeds admissions handbook about their offers process (they're nice and transparent about it!) and they said they aim to send out their definite offers almost straight away, then hang back 'til after the deadline for those they aren't sure about.

I think that's a bit scary! You'd know within a few weeks whether they even liked you or not.

I know I don't technically count as I'm now an oxbridger, but my referee had planned on sending mine off yesterday anyway, he just told me to put dow Oxford instead of Birmingham to see if I get in (I won't lol, not with ABCC at AS

Haha whoa that is pretty strange, why are you bothering if you're sure you won't get in? It's a whole choice wasted.

Unless you really hated Birmingham anyway

, have you visited any of the colleges at Oxford?

I'm really worried about Leeds. I have sent off my UCAS and need BBB but my predicted grades are BBC and only achived BCC at AS (resitting exam as got Bs in CW). Do you think they will give me an offer? I know I was aiming a bit to high with Leeds but I loved it.

eta: for television production.

Depends? If the course isn't very competitive (I wouldn't know about TV production) you may have a shot, depending on other applicants.

But it's always a massive risk applying somewhere that's asking higher than you're predicted...

Thanks. Yeah, I was told to put on Uni which I could aim higher for, but I now really want to go there!

I think TV at leeds is quite competitive (so my media teacher said) but I read they often let one grade go and I attended a BBC TV workshop and a BBC camera women gave us a lesson so I hope that will help me! My other Unis seem unappealing in comparison. :p

The same thing happened to me... I had no intention of applying to Oxford but my referee said I should and see what happens even though I have a very slim chance of getting an interview even (it would be nice though!)...although Leeds is definitely my first choice

Lol yeah I'm just doing it to see if I get an invitation to interview, I probably won't get past that point anyway! I didn't really hate birmingham, but I wan't seriously considering it either- I didn't have a fifth choice of university I wanted to go to, so I put down Birmingham (as they only want BCC to read German so it was the ultimate back up)

But tbh Durham is also a "wasted" choice as I don't want to go there either, as it looks like it'd just be another 4 years of public school just on a bigger scale... Ideally I'd like to have Leeds as my firm and Bristol or Sheffield as my Insurance.

Surely the simple answer would be to just find other places you at least would like going to, and apply there?

But I already have- I've found Leeds Sheffield and Bristol. None of them are way out of my reach, and they're all achievable if I work hard enough. I don't need two extra choices (but my grandparents are obsessed with Durham, and I was sort of coerced into putting down Oxford).

hi, have u bin to an open day, and if so what was the course like? did they tell u anything else about the course thats not on the website?

Nope, haven't been to an open day, sorry. I just looked at the Uni when passing through Leeds, didn't go in or anything. I just love the city really.
