http://128.243.253.243/registration/GameRegister.html to register your consoles MAC address.
Everyone's internet has been a bit shakey in the evenings, but on the whole it's been a lot better than expected.
I'm just confused why Spotify works (which is p2p based) but Last.fm radio stations dont (which is direct http based) when the latter is less network intensive... but that's for another thread!
Hope you get your console to work

Re: BGP Xbox Live
Spotify more than likely works as you're on a network with hundreds of Peers... Just a guess...
The HTTP Last fm data will have to traverse Proxies and NAT systems, so will be impeded somewhat as opposed to the data from spotify, much of which may be coming from other peers within your halls, or at least the uni network... -
Re: BGP Xbox LiveThe SNS limits you to 30 TCP connections at one time, presumably to prevent p2p making thousands of connections and bogging the network down.(Original post by leachy12)

I've found with Spotify on, it can stop other things from working (like webcam on msn for instance) as there isnt enough free connections to go around.
It's less of a problem now that Spotify have let you access playlists whilst offline if you're a premium account. I dont think i really listen to more than 3000 different music tracks in any short time period

Although you can register Games Consoles there is no guarantee that all services will work.
If a particular game or service doesn't work (maybe because of ports being blocked by firewall, etc) then SNS wont make any changes to the network to accomodate them.
This is mentioned on the console registration page

Re: BGP Xbox Live
We're all in the same cack with xbox live. In our halls I have been going round getting people connected, after I spent a whole 2 days seriously just working out how to get this to work.. I've finally got it and have been playin halo n fifa over xbox live fine.
You owe me some serious beers for puttin this on the forum for free after it took me so long lol.
ok, I hope this is helpful;
I have found a way to connect your xbox 360 to Xbox live.
I have been playing games on the network absolutely fine and been playing with my family from back home.
By the way, if you need any help just send me a message. If you really really struggle or your phone won't do the whole 3g thing,.. you can maybe bring it over to my halls at some point and i can maybe set it up for you.
Here is a quick guide, i'm not going to go through it all tiny step at a time i'll just hope some of you can fill in the gaps or just use google if you are unsure of something.
The problem with the network here is that the ports to download updates are blocked, as it is impossible to connect without the updates.. nobody can connect. As well as that once you have connected your NAT will be set to strict. This just means you may have difficulties playing with other players with strict NAT, but with players outside of the uni you should be fine. ( Halo is working fine for me )
- Plug your phone into your computer, use it as a modem to connect to the internet. ( see your phone guide if you are unsure. Remember charges do apply so phone up your phone provider first and get unlimited internet for the day... doesn't cost much )
- Plug an ethernet cable into your computer and the other side into your xbox
- Set up internet sharing. ( Just a quick google. Maybe type 3g connect xbox 360 or something in )
- Now your xbox can connect to xbox live through your phone ( slowly though ).
- Download the update via xbox live
- Install it and disconnect your phone and laptop.
- Plug your xbox into your wall with your ethernet cable.
- Go into network config on your xbox and change your Alternate MAC address to the same address of your computer.
( to find your mac address, click start> run> cmd and then type in the black screen ipconfig /all. You will get a load of text.. you are looking for a "Physical Address" of your local area network.
Type that into your xbox alternate mac address.
- Test xbox live connection
- Enjoy your xbox live :-)
It sometimes tries to offer me an Xbox Live update but it never completes so I still haven't managed to get it working. I hope to find somebody else with a working xbox!
