Seeing as no one quite knows how difficult getting an An A* will be, if you are applying to a course that states an a* is needed, will it be essential for you to have an a* predicted grade for you to be considered for the course?

No, you don't need to be predicted an A* a lot of schools aren't using A* predictions this year, and it would be unfair for universities to penalize students from those schools. As long as your application is strong and you're predicted AAA, the lack of A* predictions won't matter.

If your school doesn't predict A*s, then you are completely fine with it. If it does, however, and you are not predicted one, then you will be significantly disadvantaged while applying for the courses that require A*.

that's the thing, I dont know whether they are predicting it. I need the A* in maths and am pretty sure no maths teacher is giving it out. With regards to other subjects i dont know.
