if you get an offer, waiting a week to hear a response is NOT normal practice after ACs. they prefer to push out offers ASAP for at least two reasons:
1. they think of you as being "talented", so they prefer to give a good impression and give you an offer quickly
2. due to you being "talented", they want to avoid you being involved in processes with other banks/companies. after all, they don't want to risk losing you to a competitor.
both for me, as well as my friends, you tend to get an offer/notice that you're through to the next round very quickly.
that being said, for RBS it seems to be the case that they are very slow and very unstructured. I have a couple of mates who have definitely seen the poorer sides of RBS recruitment in prior years. receiving up to 10 e-mails saying they're through to the next round, before all of a sudden all places are filled. then, a month later, invitation to an AC. maybe they're better now, but they definitely had a long way to go in terms of their recruitment process.
