Hey guys,

I applied to UKCB in London and had my 1st round interview last week. I received a phone call yesterday saying I am through to the final round. Not sure what it involves but I am told I will receive more details tomorrow.

Will let you guys know.

blondieIBD,

As far as I know, UKCB is NOT under GBM. UKCB is very different from the Coverage and Advisory division which deals with mainly M&A and ECM work.

However, I had a few friends who interned there this summer and they seemed to be enjoying it a lot. Although it's not IBD, it's definitely a front-office role and, by the look of it, it's an exciting programme.

Good luck!

UKCB is a separate entity to GBM and is very client focused. Lots of relationship management. Not so much number crunching.

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum, I had went to an initial assessment day for Sales Grad on the 22nd, wander if anyone had the interview as well?

If so, do you know when are we expected to hear back with regard to the next stage?

Most banks notify successful candidates within two days after their final assessment centers. They notify unsuccessful candidates after getting responses back from those who were successful (usually, after their verbal acceptances on the phone). However, there are instances where you are "wait-listed". In that case, if any one of the successful candidates chooses not to accept the offer, then you would be off the "wait-list" (depending on how you are ranked amongst the "wait-listed" candidates).

Fair point. They phoned me this morning, saying well done you've got through to the final round, and I was like, "What, I did it last week", and the guy said "errrrr...I'll call you back" and I've yet to hear. Doesn't bode well...

oh and given that none of us have heard yet, why would you want to take it as a rejection banachi?

RBS tend to make you a week or so before responding.

I'm not sure how much BarCap's AC tomorrow will have influenced that.

Waiting a week to hear a response does sound like normal practice. The only strange thing is that they specifically said that we would hear by early this week.

if you get an offer, waiting a week to hear a response is NOT normal practice after ACs. they prefer to push out offers ASAP for at least two reasons:
1. they think of you as being "talented", so they prefer to give a good impression and give you an offer quickly
2. due to you being "talented", they want to avoid you being involved in processes with other banks/companies. after all, they don't want to risk losing you to a competitor.
both for me, as well as my friends, you tend to get an offer/notice that you're through to the next round very quickly.

that being said, for RBS it seems to be the case that they are very slow and very unstructured. I have a couple of mates who have definitely seen the poorer sides of RBS recruitment in prior years. receiving up to 10 e-mails saying they're through to the next round, before all of a sudden all places are filled. then, a month later, invitation to an AC. maybe they're better now, but they definitely had a long way to go in terms of their recruitment process.

ok two points:

1) Barcap ac may have significance because apparently it is their last 'official' one this recruiting season so if RBS gave out offers it is possible we might leverage the offer to get to Barcap today. You're probably right that its not so important but it is possible, I know the HR at the final round were very keen to find out about our progress at other banks.

2) I remember after the first round (on a friday) that we were told we would find out if we had made it through by the following tuesday... it turned out they didn't tell us until the thursday apparently (as the guy who called me said) because they had a "computer fault" or something. Maybe this has happened again.

I agree, not a great recruitment process.

Hi blueboy922,

I am having my sales AC next week as well, is yours on Friday?
I looked at the address, the HR guy told me it is at 135 Bishopgate,

I am guessing it is near Liverpool Street Station, however, the post code they gave me refer to an address at Farringdon!!

EC2M 3UR, is that the same on your application status?
