I wonder if anyone has ever got it to exactly 4000 characters and 47 lines?

I think mine is. I'm on 47 lines (with 3 line spaces) and 3998-4000 characters. The character count works kind of wierdly, as I can add two characters now, but if I add another line and more characters, it comes up with a complaint of excess characters (however many I have added) as well as lines. I'm only on a draft though, so my PS is probably going to be changed here and there numerous times before it is sent off.
Good bloke
Er, the limit is 4,000 characters, including spaces, not words. And don't even try to reach that limit; aim for the 47 line limit with blank lines between paragraphs.

Oh thank goodness for that! I tend to scan read too much :ninja:
Don't forget young'uns, what is 47 lines in Word won't be 47 lines on the UCAS form. They have their own formatting too, so if you can go back to school/college with an A4 sheet at size 12 Arial font, you're at a good place. From here, it can be pasted into your UCAS and tightened up by your tutor or whoever helps you.
