Thanks for the help guys. I am reasonably happy with my PS now, I don't think there's much else I can do other than hope for the best.

I am now going to the open day! I cancelled another visit to do so.

If you were left with any questions after the open day, feel free to ask them on here!

hey guys,

I applied for the Economics with law course. I think that I might take aber as my insurance choice or maybe as my firm ;p.
When will aber start sending acknowledgements or making offers? I got a little bit worried.
And do I have chances to get an unconditional with my predicted grades such as in my sig?

I'm not sure about other departments, but for Comp Sci it took about a week for them to reply to my application.

kaimietis - Aber are usually quite fast at responding to applications, usually within a few weeks. Bear in mind that this is a busy time for them, with hundreds of applications each week.

I'm looking forward to do a Psychology + Marketing joint honours, I understand its quite a new course to Aber but after visiting the uni over summer I'm dying to go!

Extra Info: I'm an international student from Hong Kong, born and raised in Wales, I'm really looking forward to returning to my home. I originally decided to do International Relations but realised it just wasnt the course for me with all the politics, so I decided to go with Psychology.

Hey, I've applied for Geography, I love the idea of being on the coast, but I was wondering what is the theatre and singing like at aber? As this is really VERY important to me! Also do they have a girls hockey team that play for fun, as in not a majorly competitive team that I have no chance of getting into??

Also do you know when I should recieve an acknowledgement? I sent my application on the 13th and I still havent heard anything

Thanks!

There are some past scholarship papers in the uni's website.
As far as I remember is that you have to do 2 papers form 2 different subjects. I remember checking economics, it was not very hard pretty much like IB economics exam stuff.

The scholarship ship exam looks a nightmare, I'll probably do Politics fine, but the only other subject I can do on the list is IT, and I am awful at IT. So probably have no chance in doing at all well.

Really I just want an offer at this point, I'm desperate. hopefully emailing my tutor about my UCAS App, and hopefully get a reply soon so I can send my app off.

I know but I am so awful at IT so it doesn't seem fair that is the other I'll have to do. Besides while money sounds great it is the unconditional offer I want the most!

hardy_4_paws - Theatre and singing is great at Aber. Right on campus we have the Aberystwyth Arts Centre, the largest one in Wales! It's the centre for culture here.... there's a theatre, cinema, gallery, and so much more! There's always something on there each night. I found it really entertaining in my first year, to be able to go see a production, or even some of the live music which was hosted there.

For singing, there's a few choir groups... look out for them during fresher’s week and sign up.

The uni does have an official girls hockey team, but there are also lots of other hockey teams which don’t take it so seriously, playing for fun mainly.

I'd give it a bit longer before you hear back from the uni. This is their busiest time for applications... but they are working very fast to get them all processed!

In regards to the scholarship exams.... take a look at the past papers and see what you think.

http://www.aber.ac.uk/en/scholarship...ps/pastpapers/

Obviously as they are worth a lot of money, they won’t be made too easy for you! But if you think you’re in with a chance of doing well, go for it! Remember you have to sit 2 exams.

Jamie.
