Have you looked at The Guardian and The Times league tables?
I've heard that UCL and Exeter are particularly good for environmental engineering.
Oh and I'd just like to say..fantastic choice of course! Definately a field that's becoming more and more significant and no doubt will extremely be in great demand in the next 5-10 years :yy:

Guardian is fail.
Imperial is pretty good for Engineering and UCL is not bad too. I agree that this course is a great choice as energy savings is becoming drastically important. I always wanted to study an engineering discipline that deals with energy but I chose civil engineering instead.

By the way, before getting into your course make sure what you will be studying. The worst thing that could happen is when you get there and realise that you don't like the content of the course, which happens often in engineering. Lastly, league tables don't mean anything! It's about how much you score in your degree.
Strathclyde is very good for that, and they offer loads of scholarships.

Thanks but why did you end up going for civil engineering?

Because I like constructions and super-structures more than energy.

I have found out after my researching that civil engineering suits/interests me more than any other engineering displine. By the way, don't choose a displine that you think might get you "much" money, you need to enjoy it because at the end of the course you will need to work as energy/environmental engineer for all your life!

Another great thing is if you construct a structure as a civil engineer, then people can see the hard work that was put into the building and you can proudly say that this structure was constructed by me! This I think will motivate me to carry on in my future career.

The SBE at Heriot-Watt here is apparently pretty good (although the building is shockingly crap ironically), although I'd go for Mechanical Engineering with Energy or electrical if you want to do energy engineering (depends which bit you want to do, mechanical is making the generator spin, electrical is taking the energy from the generator to the end user). I'll tell you one thing though, find a uni with a good high voltage and machines lab. You really need to work in HV labs to understand how electricity is generated and how it is transmitted. Also arcing nearly 250kV over an insulator stack is fun. Flashover looks cool.

Dont tell them that. You go to further education in hope of getting a good education, not a problem with alcohol!

Definitely second the bit in bold! We do a module in environmental engineering every year, and in the first year, we learnt a lot about poo and wastewater treatment :p: But it's a fantastic subject, and you can make such a positive impact with it. The only thing I would warn you against is that (from my limited experience) it seems like quite a niche field.

What do you mean by niche field?

I mean it seems like quite a specific field compared to say mechanical or civil, where you can go onto specialise in quite vastly different areas, although it is a growing industry and quite a new subject that's sure to expand with time. But I've only done one module in it so don't take what I say as an absolute truth.
