I was looking to apply for Kingston, for computer science. but i have heard a few bad things about the University.
Can someone tell me if the Comp sci department is good, and also ive heard there are a lot of foreign people, this doesn't brother me however are their ANY British/white people who go to Kingston?
If I'm completely honest Kingston isn't really too good, its reputation is neither here nor there...it's just a uni not much more to it really. It won't get people reacting ''wow'' if you tell them you go there but you won't get odd looks either.
There are ALOT of british asians, white people will be a minority but who cares really you're there to learn in the end, the ethnic background of student populations shouldn't be a factor.
i live not far from it..its pretty rubbish tbh and theres not much to do in the area apart from the high street which is good and 'the works'( a nightclub) so yeah.

You mention the works instead of Oceana? Oceana in Kingston is one of the best nightclubs in Surrey. (That's not too hard though).
OP, Kingston is nothing special. I wouldn't worry about the ethnicity of the Uni, there are plenty of white people around if that's what you're worried about.

yh but i know quite a few people who have either been robbed or had stuff done to them at oceana so iddnt want to recommend a not so good place imo to thee OP

Fair enough, I was wondering why you didn't mention it, haha. I've been there countless times and never ever seen anything of the sort.
Well when some girl i knew said in her first she got A's for her work, i asked myself what does that correlate to in real uni grades. If im honest its not a good uni, if your not capable of getting into a better one then so be it.

Hi, I'm just moving out of plymouth. I started this year, its a terrible place, full of chavs and nothing much to do, one nightclub - oceana and thats about it. Pick Brighton or Kingston, trust me those are the better places to be.

Well they may say that the nightlife isn't bad but that is because the university organises themed nights, i.e dressing up in army gear - that's not hard now is it? There is only one good night club and thats Oceana. Fact, not opinion. But my reply is not merely just based on nightlife but on the city itself, it is not a very pleasant city to walk through and I'd rather my girlfriend didn't walk alone there at night so as you are a girl, bear that in mind. Every city has it's bad points of course but this has the city centre the size of a town bit with all the negatives of a city. Hope this helps, if you want any more info just PM me
