If it's anything like my Uncle's field which has a electrified perimiter, then no, it is anything but safe!

Just wear a rubber suit.

wow a girl wants to do civil engineering, be proud, ur in the 0.09% of girls in the civil eng field
omg .. I mean is the field for me to secure myself a job good?
Also I was thinking about specialising in my last year with Chemical engineering?
Also do you guys think that Accounting&Economics degree is a safer field?

What did you change it from?? And YES!! Population is getting bigger... so your going to need to build more places to put them! So it's a totally safe field!

I am biased but i would say that Accounting and Economics has more job prospects. Engineering is probably a lot more exciting though and both have good job prospects...

its only safe if the economy picks up, and alot of construction projects are available. you should start with 20-23k a year. and no chemical engineering is completely different subject.
I am really confused because Ive done personal statement for a joint course of Accounting&Economics. Although am having one of my weird moments of I being confused and thinking about doing Civil engineering.?

Someone give me advice of which of those I should continue on ????

If you've had your heart set on Accounting and Economics you might just be getting cold feet with it. But it might be better to go with something that you've considered alot rather than civil engineering which sounds like you haven't really considered properly?
Taurus26 Exactly but my brother has been telling me ever since that due to our current economic rate. That it isnt very wise of me to chose Accounting and economics due to I will properply not be able to find work experince after my degree and I wouldnt land myself a good job.

Thats where civil engineering came in but yet I am so confused if I should take a risk or not.

So I want to ask if doing an Joint course of Accounting and Economics is good?

The economy should have recovered by the time you graduate. you always need accountants ....
Hmm .. Yekim thats what I was thinking too ...

Also Civil Engineers are suffering from the recession too!! ARUP have had to make hundreds of cut backs, so I'm guessing its the same all around the industry.

You will NEVER know what it is like to be without a job if you have CEng after your name. It's an extremely safe field.

No, you won't do that. You either study civil or chemical.
What about the University if I do Civil engineering I will be able to go to an Greate London University to do a 4yr degree course mainly because I will have to do a foundation course for a Yr at first because I dont study Physics and they will prepare me for the actual degree. Where as if I do Accounting&Economics I will have to travel as far as Essex or Kent to study.

Seriously confuuuuuuuuuuuuused
Civil Eng has plenty of jobs, if that's what you mean by "safe". Few people want to study engineering these days, especially the labour-intensive ones like civil. But it's good nevertheless. Be prepared for a lot of staring and proposals though
