Could anyone help me explain ways in which social policies and laws influence families and households as i'm really stuck :frown:

Gosh I really should remember this stuff. How about the laws that give more rights and protection to women (such as accepting that rape can occur within marriages, which can make divorce easier, which means women can get on with their lives etc) and giving children the right to be protected from abuse. How that influences families, er. Perhaps makes the parents more careful (i.e. not abusing) for the fear of having the children being taken away? In a similar way, making the husbands less abusive (for example) of their wives so he doesn't end up with a divorce?

I am may just be clutching at straws here, but a year of sociology has taught me that you can get away with a lot by doing so.
