Hi everyone!

I got an offer from Bangor yesturday (21st oct) for psychology of 380 points, i was shocked as this is much higher than I was expecting (more or less 100 points higher). I was intending to use Bangor as my insurance, but they want AABc and thats my predictions exactly and that will be a struggle as it is

Anyway, anyone else got offers? if so contragulations!! =D

Wow, that is quite a high offer for Bangor, I thought they were more in the 240-260 points range.

380 does seem rather high, but then again competition for psychology places is unbelievable, with Bangor being one of the leading research departments in the UK it has a LOT of people apply for psychology here which could be why the offer is so high. I've never seen many offers above 320 points..

though I've just checked what they are asking for on the Ucas website and it says:

Points accepted: 260 - 300
Minimum points required from qualifications with the volume and depth of A level or equivalent: 180

They sent me an email about it, becuase i was like WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!! !!!

They said I have "outstanding potential" - well thats a joke in itself lol, and said something about scholoships etc, then they said

"the School has mechanisms in place to ensure that, when A level results are published, you are in no way disadvantaged by having received a higher than normal offer"

I was a bit confused by that, does it mean, that if I dont make my offer but still get the typical grades im in? a few other people on here were confused about that too.

Yeah, there are now 3of us on here that have come forward with offers lol, it sounds silly but I cant imagine anyone getting rejected from Bangor (im sure they do, I just cant imagine it lol)

How does Bangor rate in your scheme of things? insurance? firm? not sure? lol

At least insurance for me but its sooooooo hard!!!!

Aaaah I have no idea! And you're so lucky to have 3 offers already. I'm only waiting for one more really, the others can poo off. At the moment Heriot-Watt might become my firm. Because of my course it's really hard to rank my unis, so I've looked at straight Psychology for rankings and in The Guardian HW came out really well, having jumped 30 places in one year (how that happened I have no idea!), and it's in Edinburgh!! Which is good They also give really low offers =/ so I don't know.

I feel a bit odd though, with AAB A2 predictions I could have applied to other unis for a different course, but I really really really like my course, just I wouldn't mind going to York.......I'd love it (so I'm thinking postgrad for Forensic Psychology?)

I might just firm HW and leave it at that, without an insurance, it's pretty silly have a higher offer insurance than your firm anyway........

Yeah, I have the same predictions as you, so i thought, if im going to get good grades, I might as well apply to some of the best (well kinda lol) but iobviously its hard in your predicament

forensic psy sounds really interesting and one of the 3 key areas im interested in but i would prefer to do a more general degree for u/g and then specalise more for postgrad as occupational and educational really interest me as well lol!!

When our teachers were applying to uni they didn't have to choose their firm and insurance. The put their 5 choices in order of preference and if they didn't get grades for their first choice they'd go to their second choice and so on.... I wish it were like that! what can you do...
I'm foolishly hoping for an unconditional from HW, don't know why. Their website says then can base it on AS only. But then Bangor is nice and the course makes no difference in the end.. AAhhhhhh I don't know!!!!!!!!

Today I'm a disaster, with all these offers I'm stuck with having to choose which to put as my firm and which as insurance... not happy!
