Have you got an offer from all 5 yet??? cos I thought you only had to decide when you had all 5?

Its hard tho isnt it!!

Probs Sheff or Bham as firm and then Bangor as insurance, but i really need to visit and research more!!

But still, 4 offers is pretty good! especially seeing as some people havn't even sent of their ucas yet!!

Yeah I am rather chuffed
I've come to the conlcusion (a <100% conclusion) that Bangor shall become my insurance and Keele my firm. I really quite like the look of the campus, what students there say about it and the course
However this could change again once I print off uni profiles and make a pro vs con list..... hmmm
It is hard! I'd be happy at Bangor anyway. lol I couldn't find the city center when I went, I must be dumb!

Big kafuffle with that Keele offer. They want GCE Chemistry and Mathematics, and GCSE English Language Grade C (I'm a former Italian student). In my application it was OBVIOUS I don't do Maths to GCE level (Chemistry yes) but was predicted an A for GCSE Maths and English (not English Language...so that's another mistake).
So did they make a mistake? Should it have been "This offer is subject to you attaining GCE Chemistry and GCSE Mathematics Grade C and English Grade C"? I've emailed them, the day before yesterday and will call if they don't get back by the end of the week. What do you think could have happened? I'm getting really paranoid as I want to put it as my firm

In reference to the UCAS points they want, thats pretty normal from what I've heard, in that if you have high predicted grades they give you an extra high offer to try and push you to your best, it's also pretty normal for them to be quite lax about missing your offers, so to be honest I reckon you'd get a fair bit of lee-way on that offer - Don't take my word for it though

And yes, it's a city! A tiny tiny city sure, but a city nonetheless, apparently it's because it has a cathedral...

I'm not PunkyFish, but I did choose Bangor, and I chose psychology! I chose it first off because of the course, it really is one of the best psychology degrees in the country, and I'm loving it so far
The other main reason I chose it is because of where it is, I came on an open day and that was it, I was set that this had to be where I went to university, and here I am, I went up Snowdon the first week I was here, was brilliant
Bare in mind the night-life you want though, personally I'm a huge fan of it here, tons and tons of pubs with great deals if you know where to go, a couple of alright clubs which turn out to be awesome if you've had enough alcohol And ofcourse theres just hanging around with friends in their halls, thats always good
If you're more of a club go-er you may be a bit disappointed, but if, like me, you prefer a night at the pub (with the occasionaly karaoke ) then it's brill here.

Hope that helped ya in some shape or form on your decision making.

I would recommend going to an open day just to get a feeling from the place. Some of the people I know just came to Bangor without going on an open day and have still loved it!
I came here because I first did not want to go to a big city university and second Bangor is a very green place. I'm on the top floor in my halls and have a great view of the moutains. Going to Bangor also provides you with good exercise! everywhere is within walking distant even the pubs!
The course I'm doing also attracted me to the place, it seems like a community on my course and we have regular events done by the Law Society which we attend. There are quite a good few pubs at Bangor, however there is not much of a club scene, you do have Time, Octagon and Varsity however which I have heard does provide a good night out. I'm more of a pub person!
If you live on the Ffriddoedd Site, then you have Bar Uno! which holds regular events i.e Thursday is quiz night!
Accommodation wise:- I live in the new halls (on the Ffidd site) and have to say I'm impressed, however the only downside with these new halls is that they are expensive and there is no tv ariel socket in the bedrooms, the only way you may be able to get a TV signal is if you buy an indoor ariel, however for most people this has not worked. I don't know what the signal is like in lower Bangor so can't really help there. In the new halls, there is a TV socket in the kitichen, but I suppose it depends on how close you are to your flatmates!
There is 24 hour security on site and if you have a problem with your room then just report it to maintenance.
Also most of the accmmodation in the Fridd site is en suite and all are self catered.
If you plan on living on the Fridd site then Morrisons is down the road, so you have endless supply to food and drink! also there's suppose to be a shop being built on the Ffidd site! Also there are takeaways near by! (which is always a good idea if you can't be bothered to cook)
The town itself is nice and small, you do have the normal high stree shops i.e New Look, Boots, Superdrug, Subway! I do suggest that if you come for an open day to go and check out the town.
There's lots of societies/ clubs you can join, there's even a gym on the Fridd site! You can do as much or as little as you want in Bangor. It all depends on you.
Hope this helps!
P.S Internet profiles and a pro and con list will only get you so far, make sure you go to a few open days or even just come up and visit the place itself.
Good luck

It must be a mistake, surely they cant expect u to do A2 maths in a year especially as you wern't planning on doing it, mm that doesnt make sense on my part, meh, maybe they meant a diff subject rather than maths.

Also, I think many unis want a pass in GCSE language rather than lit (can you get straight english as a gcse??) why don't you do the Ielts exam? or similar

Butthe maths bit does sound like a mistake, they cant expect you to do an A2 subject in a year in a subj you didnt want to do, definatly ring them if you don't get a reply soon, and maybe double check track, you might have made a mistake (Unlikly) Also, while your own track its worth chekcing that you didput GCSE maths rather than GCE :s altho any mistakes like that should have been checked by your school

Hope it all gets cleared up

It's all been sorted finally (nothing on Track till next week though they said). My Dad rang, so I don't know specifically what they said, but I think what happened was they just copied and pasted the set offer, tailored it without adjusting other things. They said they will change the GCSE English Language to just English and the GCE Maths to GCSE Maths So all's good!
I have decided though to put Keele as my firm and then Herriot-Watt as my insurance. I want to become a Chartered Forensic Psychologist, and get an Msc from King's College London in Clinical Forensic Psychology, so the best place to go for that is definitely Keele quite happy now, just waiting for track to change.

Gah! End of half term.............nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

Ahhhhhhhhh I have GCSE Maths exams on the 5th and 10th. What have I done? Virtually nothing. I know it's "easy" but believe me, maths is NOT one of my strengths. I've done a few past papers and gone through the book, but I just tried another one and, ummm, still need to go over geometry
Grrrrr not happy about this!!

And well done for the Aston offer!!! Even if you don't plan on going there, it's a good uni so consider it. we've both nearly finished!!

I know it's 80% for an A* and 65% for an A at Higher Tier, which is what I'm doing. So I guess it's 55% for a B, which I'd be happy with tbh. I'm that **** at maths.
And thank you!! I'll def need it!
Good luck with your driving test as well!!!! Tons of boys in my year have passed and crashed during the summer lol (shows that the test wasn't actually that hard )

though I've just checked what they are asking for on the Ucas website and it says:

Points accepted: 260 - 300
Minimum points required from qualifications with the volume and depth of A level or equivalent: 180
I got an offer for 400pts, but it says on the website that if you're predicted higher, you get a higher offer 'in recognition of your potential'. I'm predicted 4A*s but with doing 4 a levels, 400 pts works out at BCCC instead of AAB.

I really like all my choices. I'll probably go to Oxford if I get in, but if not and I get into all the others, I really don't know.

Wouldn't 400 points be A*A*A? Or BBBB?

Bloody hell, that would mean Bangor was giving a higher offer than Oxford or Cambridge! It would, but that's not counting the fact that I already have an A at AS which is worth 60pts. (I took 5 AS subjects, got all As and carried on 4.) Sorry I forgot to add the a on the end.

By the way, I noticed you're doing GCSE maths exams next week - PM me if you want any help.

to be fair i'd read anything above 320 as we'll take you whatever.

I know its mnot my place to say it but Bangor do accept a lot of people even when they don't meet the grades.

They did say getting a higher offer doesn't disadvantage you on results day. To miss my offer though, I'd have to get CCCC or below. If that happens and I get a total of 12+ grades below my predicted grades, I think missing my offer for Bangor (and everywhere else) will be the least of my worries.

I know people who got on to chemistry with only a C and a D in chemistry and biology respectively. with anything above 180 you'll be accepted by bangr, and if you are a high achieving student who they thing has potential once you've been through the open days and the interviews they may even up your offer to an unconditional.

if you put bangor sown as your firm i gaurentee you 100% you'll get in regardless... i'd be so sure of it i'd even put money on it.
