Bedworth's a horrible little ex-pit town. The most racist town in North Warwickshire, if you use the BNP's support as a metric. The locals can't even pronounce the name properly; they call it "Bedduf". Everyone knows each other, in a "Oh hi, cousin..." kinda way. People often colloquially call it "Bedrock" because it's stuck in the stone age. The town centre has a couple of banks, a post office (that rents half its floorspace out to a mobility scooter company), a Boots, a Greggs and a plethora of charity and card shops. Everything else has closed down... not that there was anything good in the first place. The only good thing about Bedworth is the Bedworth Bypass.

Coventry is not a bad place at all. Compared to places elsewhere of course.

Yeah, I've never really unsafe either... has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Snob.

Seriously, get your head out your arse and have a look around. Cov isnt bad at all, its perfectly safe and contains fewer chavs than much of Leam. But of course, Warwick students could never admit to that............

I'm allowed to have my own opinion of Coventry... and I never said it wasn't safe either. Nor do I care how many chavs live in Leam or Coventry, seeing as I don't live in either.

Can we have that sentence in English?

I love Coventry, it's not too big a city as to be unfriendly, and not too small to be boring. There are a few not-so-nice areas round the edges (places like Stoke Aldermoor, stuff like that), but some are really nice (Cheylesmore, Canley).

I want to stay here after I finish uni, but the lovely boyfriend wants to move down south I'm going to convince him to at least let me do my CIMA up here and then reconsider!!! That'll give him a chance to find a stable job and then he won't want to move Smart, eh?

Im liking Coventry so far but the area Callice Court is next to is really dodgy, I hate having to walk up near there, makes me feel uneasy.

Also my flatmate, in the room next to me got burgled yesterday and woke up to someone standing on her desk :|

It's definitely a lot more "fun" than where I'm from though, but yeah, I do feel a little unsafe at times.

Far Gosford Street doesn't have a great rep.

I don't mind walking down it, but I know a lot of girls (and some guys!) who wouldn't go down there after dark. Or in the day, in some cases...

You lot clearly don't know how good cov is... My HT is Northampton, this place is so much better than Nhants... Still not looking to get in arguments, and we do have to put up with a lot here.

Oh yeah and i live in singer, you turn left out of our street and you hit whoreville (quite close to the calice ghettoish area and ragland)...

When looking around Warwick uni, I went to look at Coventry, walked through it quite a lot. The shops were ****, but oh well, i can cope i hate shopping.

Just... sorta.... a bit of a dump. There was a gang of kids shouting at some woman who was shouting back. I'm from Hertfordshire, am I really that out of touch? the way they were talking and stuff, I never thought those kind of people existed, thought it was stereotype, I was really surprised.

But meh, to be honest, I wouldn't mind being there through uni. Dumps don't bother me. Pretty Cathedral cities really push me the wrong way. Can't stand them.

Not that rough at all, never had too many problems in the years Ive been here. You hear about the odd thing or 2, but you do in any city.

Don't let it put you off, you'll only ever hear of extreme cases, i live in singer, it's amazing, very pretty, a nice little village-like area... Calice and trinity are quite nice looking too... As for the city you should really spend some time here, i prefer it to my home town, a lot!

Granted a lot of coventry looks ghetto but a little street-smarts will teach you to stay the f*** away from those areas...

Oh and i think this thread is more proof of us in the uk always needing to complain... I love coventry.

been at cov now since september, and at no point have i felt unsafe.
i live in singer and its brilliant, one of my best mates live in raglan and that looks like a pretty cool place as well. I often have to walk between the 2 places at absurd hours of the morning and theres nobody around, my mate even went for a jog at 10pm through the city centre (don`t ask why as i have no idea) and only walked passed 5 people in an hour. there seem to be alot of `potential` muggers types, but many often seem to walk past just looking at the floor, seems to be a case of wanting to look big and failing quite badly.

I live in the town next to Coventry, and from my experience's theres absolutely nothing wrong with cov! Granted its called chaventry for a reason, but its just the same as any other city really. Nightlife is class and there's a bank machine that dishes out fivers..gotta love that!

Well three weeks have passed since I made this and I have to admit that in my 2 months here so far, i've had no trouble from anyone and generally things have been okay. Though I do live more towards the Earlsdon side.

Yep, things seem alright for me too.

Since I posted about my flatmate getting robbed (granted, she did have her window wide open and everything on show) nothing has happened, and I haven't had any trouble since I've been here, just felt a bit edgy at some points but I think that was mainly down to getting used to a new area.

Enjoying the nightlife aswell, plenty going on but I'm surprised how quiet Thursday nights in Cov are. Last night we started at Varsity/Lloyds etc. and there was practically nobody about, in both the bars and the streets/city center. Then we went on to Kasbah about 10.30 for the Silent disco and it was ******* closed, we saw a maximum of about 10 people on the way back, then tried Skydome, and I've never seen it so dead around there either. Maybe it was just a generally quiet night, but even my home town is busier than that on a Thursday night (and, this is the town that is home to the once voted "worst nightclub in the UK" ).

That was probably the only boring night out I've had in Cov, so generally, pretty decent so far.
