Default geology

it maybe a stupid question, but is geology more than just the study of rocks? the southampton website states 'Study geology and you could soon be exploring for new economic resources or informing policy on global climate change'. Im interested in global climate change and feel a geology degree would qualify me more highly than a physical geog one...just want to know exactly what goes on/modules in a geology degree first.
cheers

you can read the modules list and what it entails for all unis online at their relevent sites.

Alot of modules at soton are optional so you can tailor it to your likings. I mostly did palaeontology and sediments, but i coudvle done palaeoclimate change and some geog modules on climate change as well.

Geology is one of my majors. My stratigraphy module is mostly about rocks but it's more to do with the history of the British Isles than anything else.

They've hardly mentioned rocks at all in my Earth Systems lectures.

southampton geology doesn't leave many options til your 3rd year though. My second year was all compulsory and i had a choice of 1 module in first year.
