Default York Historians....

Hey,

Ok, I've applied to York for History (V100) for 2010 entry, and am a bit worried about my chances of an offer...

At GCSE I got:

A* A A A A A B B B D

And AS level;

Ancient History: A
Modern History: A
Politics: A
English lang/lit: A

So, was just wondering what York Historians got at GCSE, and whether you think I have a chance of an offer.
Also when did you receive your offers?

Thanks alot for any info

I'm doing English at York which is probably about equally hard to get into (possibly more so?) and I have lower GCSE grades than that. (: Didn't get my offer until March. I guess that sort of thing would depend on the admissions tutor at least a little bit though.

You've just posted the same thing for Durham.
Why didn't you just do one thread?

You have a strong chance, particularly if the A* at GCSE was in History and the D was in some unrelated subject like Music.

A* wasn't in history, but was in an essay based subject (English Lit)

And the D was in music... have you been stalking me

Thanks alot for all the help

Haha, well I assume you got an A in GCSE History then.

You'll be fine. Good luck.

I'm loving History so far, just got to start getting used to writing essays again.
To answer your question I got 2 A*s and 10As but I think yours will be fine to get in as it will be the A-Levels they look at most.

I don't think york is too fussy with GCSE grades with their history course. I know one person on the course who got 5A*, on the otherhand I got in with 1A* and that A* wasnt even in history. And of course there are people posting here who dont have a ton of A* grades. So don't worry about the GCSE grades, as long as you have a great PS and predicted A2/acheived AS grades then you will stand a good shot at an offer.
