Maths and Computer Sci.

I'm going to apply to do Mathematics and Computing at Uni. for 2006 entry. The thing i want to know is what kind of background knowledge of Computer Science i will need to have good grouding at the course. Now i know most courses say no background knowledge required, but i also know that many other people applying will already have experience with programming languages etc. which i don't have. I'm reading up on Computer Science etc but i'm still essentially a 'knowledgable lamen'. Just wondering if any current students could tell me what sort of stage i ought to be up to so that i won't spend the first terms catching up with others.
