With the recent poetry in The Gallery, we decided on a 'competition' to give even more people a reason to write something.
The title is: '
Escapism'. It was chosen randomly. (The first word that came up was 'Kremlin', but I didn't think that was open enough.) Entries must use that as their theme/starting-point/title.
Any form or style of poetry is allowed. The limit is ~thirty lines.
To enter, you need to
PM your poem to Overground.
Don't post entries here. When the deadline has passed, all of the poems will be posted together.
If you wish to remain anonymous throughout, tell Overground when you PM your poem and your name will be withheld after the results are announced. (This may ruin your chance of recognition and prizes should you win, though.)
The deadline is:
Saturday the 14th of November (i.e., two weeks from now). Or possibly Saturday the 7th...
Once the submissions are over, there will be a voting process to decide the winner.
Only those who have submitted poems will be allowed to vote. After the poems have been posted, all who have entered can PM Overground the three poems they think are best, ranked in order.
At this stage, the authorship of each poem will be kept secret. This is to prevent people voting for their friends, or even to prevent the reputation of a user swaying your judgement. With this in mind, it would be better if you didn't tell others which poem is yours until after the results are collected. Overground will withhold all of this information. You cannot vote for your own poem. Points will then be allocated for each nomination: five for first, three for second, one for third. Once all the votes are in, poems will be ranked in order of points and the results will be posted here.
I don't know whether there will be some sort of prize. I will probably rep anyone who takes part, at the least.
