Why not get people to give some reasons?
It shouldn't be an 'Oh, don't go there!'-thread, but a 'Here's some important stuff to know'-thread

For example, I'm at St Andrews, and it's mostly great, but the accommodation is expensive and every year I have problems finding somewhere affordable to live. A lot of first years get shared rooms, which also might not appeal to everyone.
[There are lots more positive things about it too! Anyone feeling disheartened should go to the St A's subforum and look for the more happy threads ]

Ones I've been to and recommend avoiding (purely aesthetically) are South Bank, Coventry, Nottingham Trent, York, De Montfort, Imperial and Kent.

Ones I'd recommend are Royal Holloway, Sussex, Greenwich, Goldsmiths, LCC and Birmingham.

Oxford Brookes? You've got to be kidding me! Brookes is one of the best ex-polies there is, and for many courses does a better job than some old unis. For teacher training they're one of the best places you can go!

Newport's pretty appalling, from what I hear. I don't know personally, just I live in the same area, and unless you're doing media, it's a waste of monies.

Some people don't like the look of the buildings on campus.

Can't say that I (or most people I've spoken to) are of that opinion, but it's certainly something that some people feel.

To me the campus feels like a big park, with the lake, loads of old trees and a lorra lorra bird wildlife. Very pleasant and calming.
