Re: The Field Hockey SocietyYou're either playing an inefficiently football-like formation or not trying hard enough! Whether you're playing 2 at the back or a footballing 4, the fullbacks in particular need to be offering themselves in attack as well as dropping fast when possession is lost - all the more important thanks to the new rules this season.(Original post by Al_Funcoot)
And to be honest mate, you must be really unfit if you're playing in defence and get knackered
(For what it's worth, I've been playing right FB in a 5-3-2-1 - forwards back to keeper - this season.) -
Re: The Field Hockey Society
"Yeah but you're a prick, nobody cares about you, and TSR wants you to die hung upside down with your head clamped by a beartrap and your useless hanging body set alight...You piece of ****. Die. Slow."
Would the person who left this comment with their neg rep kindly step foward so I know who to call a coward?
Thanks. -
Re: The Field Hockey Society
hello everyone! I'm a Goalkeeper for my local team (Brecon Hockey Club) and my college team (Hereford Sixth Form). Last year we got through to represent the West Midlands at the BCS Championship in Loughborough in April, as this is my first really important set of games I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for keeping calm and staying focused during the game? cheeeers

Re: The Field Hockey SocietyJust don't get worked up on anything, and think about the game. Don't spend time thinking abut what to do, just go with your instincts, the first thing to pop into your head, is normally the right one(Original post by .x.sketch.x.)

Re: The Field Hockey Society
I play for my school's U16 team as a regular player (quite impressive since it's a team for Year 11's, and I am in Year 9) - I am one of two Year 9's who play in the U16 A-Team, with the other one being the Vice-Captain (of the U16 A's) and me being a regular player. I usually play as a right forward, though I have played in midfield, and also, once, in defence, with success.
By U16 standards I believe myself to be quite a good player. My best haul was in February, when I scored 4 goals out of the total of 6 in a 6--0 win for my school. The team has not conceded any goals this season and has an average of 7.1 goals per match (I have an average of 1.4 goals per match) in over 40 total games! -
Re: The Field Hockey SocietyThat is only amazing really if you are part of a huge school like stowe, repton etc.(Original post by GameGod)

Otherwise it's not an overly huge deal
7 goals per match is not that impressive.
If you are really so good go and play for a club and then county. -
Re: The Field Hockey SocietyThere are 150 boys in my year, 150 in Year 10 and 150 in Year 11. This means that I am in the Top 11 out of 300 pupils who are either one or two years older than me, in addition to the 150 in my year. While that may not be particularly impressive or amazing, I wasn't trying to say that I'm amazing at Hockey. But I'm a good player.(Original post by Atherilia)

As for playing in a club, I presume you mean an adult club? I doubt I could compete with fully grown adults yet in hockey (I am 13 years old). As for playing at the County level, I've never heard of County matches or teams at the U14 level, although they may exist. I'll ask around about them. -
Re: The Field Hockey SocietyClubs have juniour sections, and a good club will have all levels of adults teams of which you should be able to compete in next year.(Original post by GameGod)

And yes county teams do generally have an u14 level and definatly an u15 level, but you do have to be nominated by your club or school
