The problem with the statement idea you propose is that, while someone could easily make thier own comparisons, this would dilute any 'debate' quality - which I think was the whole point.

I like the way this idea is progressing, this to me is the best suggestion so far.

I also think it would fit in within the current timescale for the general election, which should start on the 7th and finish on the 17th - we'd have enough time for the statements to get them out for the election and debate could then follow.

They could, I'm sure if that was the case then the leader would just PM the speaker to ask permission for that to happen and then I think they would probably get it.

Having read the last couple of posts, yes I think timeframe is important. Will there be enough time to do the statements? If not then a simple leader deabte could be best.

anyway, I like this idea, especially the Drogue version. I would say that anyone (mp or not) can PM me questions to ask of the parties and I select a few to ask them. After a week I take the answers of the parties (and independents) and post them up in a new thread where they can be discussed on mass. I don't think this would need an amendment, and pasing something into the guidance document should really only be formality, so I'd be happy to start this.

Basically yes. It would give the parties detailed policy in an area, and then everyone could have fun ripping that to shreds. It would require much less moderation than trying to keep a debate on topic all the time, and I dont see how we could limit a thread to only certain people anyway. This way there would be one post with each parties answer to a question so it wouldn't have to pbe searched for and then a debate so everyone could argue those answers.

Thats the risk tbh. With the way I'm hoping this could work though all parties would get an even policy showing in the first post, and thats as far as any voter is likely to look as the rest will most likely turn into a free-for-all.

Perhaps a pass-the-parcel would work where each one is asked a question in turn, making it balanced
