just thought i'd bump this thread - was wondering, what sort of diet do you recommend? i'm severly allergic to eggs and nuts, so that's a chunk of protein gone. ive heard things about having lots of oats (oatmeal?) and generally a lot of calories overall - some places also mentioned having some omega acid supplements like fish oil? and then ive also heard things about protein shakes but i dont think i really need those as a beginner..

Eggs and nuts are hardly a 'good chunk of protein' if you eat lots of meat and fish and drink lots of milk.

Oats are indeed epic, and so is milk, stick em together and you have one of the most simple balanced meals you could ask for, and its damn nice!

There are many different sources of protein. I haven't eaten an egg or nut in months now.

There are some magic 'pills' you could take which would help improve your squats, if you get me.

First point fail!!!

Improper diet.
Most people are not eating enough protein and eating too many simple carbs and not eating a weight gain diet.

# Use nutritional supplements. If you can't afford too many products, just stick with the basics; like whey protein. If you can't afford whey protein the next best thing is egg whites.

really? as a beginner? :s

You don't have to take supplements - to gain strength. It just makes it quicker.
