What do they do if someone is on one or the other?

Ignore list will block that persons posts basically hide their posts as you scroll down a thread. I think it may also block PMs? Not sure on that one.

Buddy list is rather useless.

Buddy list is rather useless.

It does make it easier to see when your buddys are online though

I don't use it much at the moment. Perhaps it will be more useful if we could have it as a widget rather than a pop-up window?
