Anyone finding the job hunt tough atm? I'm handing in some application forms tomorrow, and just to make sure I'm going to hand in a CV + cover letter with each. I've even got a form for Lidl, Lol.
How's your hunt going? I guess those grades won't help us now
Bugger all. They won't take anyone on going home at Christmas, they want to give all the hours to the new Christmas temps. And I got this from the store I was supposedly transfered to.

Ergh I know how you feel. About 4 years ago I wa on the ol' job hunt.....1 year later I got a job 1 whole year. I was out going to random shops about 3 or 4 times a week. It's crap because sometimes people don't even get back to you one way or another, ignorant *******!! How long have you been searching?
Iv been trying to find a xmas job for weeks! Iv applied to sooo many places I'v lost count. Have an interview for M&S on thurs finally. Maybe try there? Or some of the other department stores.
Badly...although I should have a job in the next two weeks. Insider job, y'see.
Still doesn't take away from the fact that I filled up two of those bloody 'looking for work' diaries, in the last 6 weeks, and only got one freaking e-mail back to say 'sorry, the position has now been filled'.
I hate how retail jobs say on their application 'Previous retail experience not required/essential' and then reject me within a day, and its quite obvious they are looking for someone with previous retail experience! If you are, just say so, so I don't have to bother applying!

Re: "Sorry, we don't have any vacancies".
How old are you all? Bartending jobs are always fairly plentiful near universities...I currently hold one (and possibly two; I'll know at the end of this week) + a paid lab job lol
Jobs aen't hard to find in this climate at all - it really just depends how fussy you are. If you're not - Burger King and McDonalds are always on the lookout for staff - and hey, so it's kinda ****** to say you work there, but if it's only temporary and you need the money, why complain? I worked at McD's for a bit when I was completely skint, and thay don't pay too badly and generally, you can be really flexible about your shifts.

How is one meant to get retail experience if all they are looking for is retail experience?
