Anyone finding the job hunt tough atm? I'm handing in some application forms tomorrow, and just to make sure I'm going to hand in a CV + cover letter with each. I've even got a form for Lidl, Lol.
How's your hunt going? I guess those grades won't help us now
Threads like these make me so glad that I got a job last year and only had to look for about 3 weeks. My plan is to stick with Greggs until I bugger off to uni, and hopefully get a transfer to another shop since there are Greggs everywhere.
Good luck with the job hunting, guys!
I just looked around at Greggs and it's a ******* minefield for me. There are 4 part time jobs available near me. The only problem is that they are Mon-Fri. I'm studying so do you think they would allow me to work on my days off?

I think they are pretty flexible, but it probably depends on the demands of the particular shop. I work Saturdays but if I'm needed, then I work during the week on my days off college. It depends on your contract too, as I'm only contracted for 8hrs on a Saturday, so I'm not guaranteed any extra hours but they're always there if I want them. You might as well apply, it's worth a shot.

I applied to Greggs and got an interview, I haven't got the job (I pressume, they haven't contacted me yet either). I thought it sounded like an all right place to work - despite being very busy - but the interview really put me off. "You're basically going to want to die. It's not satisfying work, but it's cool 'cause you get 50% off stuff". O_o. Also there was a pizza shop next door and the smell was coming through. It was garlicy and she really could not get over it, she kept interrupting me. [Sobs]. She also said I'd be paid £4.70 - I was a bit confused by that. Perhaps she meant £4.83 (because that'd make sense). but said.. that for some odd reason.
Jobs aen't hard to find in this climate at all - it really just depends how fussy you are. If you're not - Burger King and McDonalds are always on the lookout for staff - and hey, so it's kinda ****** to say you work there, but if it's only temporary and you need the money, why complain? I worked at McD's for a bit when I was completely skint, and thay don't pay too badly and generally, you can be really flexible about your shifts.
The only thing sadder than working at Mcdonalds* is being rejected by Mcdonalds. Without even getting an interview thing.
I decided I couldn't be arsed with finding a job after that.
*kudos to people working there, there are worse things to do, but I'm thinking grand scheme of things here*
Well according to the media and the government everything's getting hunky dory again. Atleast, the house prices are going up, so that's reassuring. After all, we don't want any lately redundant workers to get their hands on a nice house now do we?

Lidl omg - i just got a christmas temp job at M&S - have u looked on their website - there were quite a few vacancies on there all over the country (dunno where u are - lol) - hope u find work soon and congrats on actually looking for realistic work rather than a few people i've seen on here who seem to think their gonna get a 'good' job straight away good luck

All right then. I'll just look for one that looks very flexible and then apply. Hopefully they'll give me an interview. All the experience I had from my last job will probably make them shine. Unless i get nervous of they want me to work during college days.
Edit: Lol didn't even go through the application test.
I think one of the biggest hurdles for job seekers is brought on by themselves: arrogance - this sort of "I'm too good for that job" type of mindset.
Yup, I'd take anything right now. I'm a little iffy about applying for Lidl as it gets bad rep around here, but that won't stop me from working there...
I think what's more frustrating than actually not finding a vacancy is being rejected from a vacancy.

When you want money. It doesn't matter where it comes from (has long has it's not porn or prostitution). Only problem is that there are to many people looking for jobs and not enough for us all.
Woo! Got the Saturday job at Greggs! Hopefully it'll be better than I think it'll be working that.
Just wishful that the interviewer was trying to scare me. Ha ha!
Still looking for jobs though, for the rest of the week. But that will get me by. ^^

It will happen for you I always spent loads of money shopping in Tescos every week, & always wanted a part time job there, asked in the big store, put a form in the little express store by my house too, never heard anything.
I got a job in Sainsburys in the end, now I spend loads in their store.
Tesco's loss is Sainsburys gain!
You will find something soon enough x
