Well, after over 4 years posting on this site I think it's time to hang up my legal boots.

Unfortunately, I have become increasingly frustrated with the attitude of posters who have sought advice, whether through posts on this sub-forum or through PMs, that could not be subsequently bothered to say a simple "thank you" or otherwise acknowledge my response. You know who you are. Strange as it may seem, I do have a full time job which takes up a lot of my time. Responding to career related questions is actually quite time consuming - however, I was happy to do that provided I received a little recognition or thanks. That simply has not been forthcoming over recent months. It is immensely dispiriting to spend considerable time sending a detailed reply to a PM, or a thread, only to find that that reply receives no acknowledgment whatsoever.

So, the best of luck to all of you in everything you seek to do. I shall continue to check my personal messages on occasion and remain happy to respond to specific questions where appropriate. Do feel free to drop me a line. Those regular posters with whom I've been in touch - flick me a message and I'll give you my work email.

Gosh - this sounds enormously melodramatic! My final messages would be: Stay focussed, be realistic, do what you want to do and, most of all, always strive to enjoy yourself - whether that be at Uni or in your work. Life is far too short to follow the goals that other people set you.

There is a catchphrase used by my favourite surf forum, RealSurf (http://www.realsurf.com/), which I think is a good one for all walks of life - "Stay happy, and you'll be perfectly fine" by Jack Norris. I reckon that's a pretty good way to approach life.

If anyone's heading DownUnder, get in touch: happy to show you our little slice of paradise down here. The sun usually shines and there's always some waves.

All the best,

Chalks.

TSR's legal threads are going to sink to lower depths of misleading advice without you posting sensible and real advice Chalks!
Thanks for the help you've given everyone.

I think that we should sue Chalks for leaving us on Melbourne Cup day.
I bet he is doing it cause his horse lost. *

Definitly not what I wanted to hear after seeing a great post from you about the Magic Circle.

I'll try to find whatever information you've posted on here with that search function though.

I hope you don't mind me PMing you for some advice though...

Sorry to see you go Chalks. I see though you've been delving into the study help - Law forum, where you will find a few more trolls, weirdoes, and assorted morons. I'm sure if you'd stayed in this nice happy forum you'd have been fine.

Not personally had, nor asked for, any advice from you Chalks, but if I had, I'd have said thank you (it's deemed 'old fashioned' these days apparently, as I am reliably informed by some of the young students I study alongside).

It can be a bit irritating when one spends time assisting people (happens in real life too!) and they don't actually appear very grateful for the help given, but my view on that is 'feel free to ask again, and feel free to be offended when I tell you where to go'.

It would be nice if you stayed...but if you don't, enjoy the respite from here!

Although I haven't been on this site very long, I've seen the amount of posts you've done in the law forums, as well as how helpful you've been for prospective lawyers (what i've read from your posts have helped a great deal!). Your advice has always been useful, just imagine the hundreds of people you helped with their questions.

I'm sorry to see you go and thank you for your help (I'm sure many others do too).
