Well, after over 4 years posting on this site I think it's time to hang up my legal boots.
Unfortunately, I have become increasingly frustrated with the attitude of posters who have sought advice, whether through posts on this sub-forum or through PMs, that could not be subsequently bothered to say a simple "thank you" or otherwise acknowledge my response. You know who you are. Strange as it may seem, I
do have a full time job which takes up a lot of my time. Responding to career related questions is actually quite time consuming - however, I was happy to do that provided I received a little recognition or thanks. That simply has not been forthcoming over recent months. It is immensely dispiriting to spend considerable time sending a detailed reply to a PM, or a thread, only to find that that reply receives no acknowledgment whatsoever.
So, the best of luck to all of you in everything you seek to do. I shall continue to check my personal messages on occasion and remain happy to respond to specific questions where appropriate.
Do feel free to drop me a line. Those regular posters with whom I've been in touch - flick me a message and I'll give you my work email.
Gosh - this sounds enormously melodramatic! My final messages would be: Stay focussed, be realistic, do what
you want to do and, most of all, always strive to enjoy yourself - whether that be at Uni or in your work. Life is far too short to follow the goals that other people set you.
There is a catchphrase used by my favourite surf forum, RealSurf (
http://www.realsurf.com/), which I think is a good one for all walks of life - "
Stay happy, and you'll be perfectly fine" by Jack Norris. I reckon that's a pretty good way to approach life.
If anyone's heading DownUnder, get in touch: happy to show you our little slice of paradise down here. The sun usually shines and there's always some waves.
All the best,
Chalks.
