Just belted out a 5k in 23:52, was aiming for a sub 25 and smashed it, soooo happy
Lovely. So is that a new PB?

I ran 14K yesterday but very slowly. First I did 6.4K with my brother in 25 mins - he's not as quick as me but with a 19:07 5K best he's getting there - then did 8K with my mum, who is training for a half marathon.

Now is my day's rest before Parkrun 51 tomorrow.

For 5k yeah it's my PB so far, really happy with it, aiming still for a sub 50 10k next month so it's starting to pay off it seems now, I should really get into more Parkruns

That's wonderful, congratulations. Which 10K are you doing? Or is it just an individual thing.

Parkrun is amazing, definitely the best running event around IMO. Free, every week and such a lovely ambience around the event. :top:

    Reepham 10k, it's in Norfolk

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reepham,_Norfolk

So it'll be relatively flat and quite a nice one hopefully, should be my first race in my clubs colours too, quite excited, really pushing for that elusive sub 50, it'll be brilliant to finally crack it when I do

I know. What sort of time do you do for the distance?

I am envious of all your amazing 5km times. I'm aiming for sub-20 minutes, at 20:50 at the moment.

That's a great time thurin! My best is 22.11 but it's been much longer than that recently. Also, well done for getting a new PB robo donkey!

Not allowed to run for a while Waiting for some medical results to come back and the doctor said to avoid all exercise until then. I was supposed to do a race tonight- really shouldn't have paid the £15 entry fee in advance

My mother's partner is doing a Spartan Race this month.

He hasn't really done anything different to the training he normally does for a race. The internet is your friend!
True, but my running training consists of running. No rope climbing, sandbag carrying, spearing throwing, monkey bars, flame jumping... and I doubt my fitness is quite up to your mum's partner's but I'll get there!

So I stopped running due to Ramadan. Coupled with the fact I did some lunges and my chronic knee problem has flared up. It's full of fluid again So yeah, getting running withdrawal and I can't run anymore

Yeah it was at a meet.

I've done parkrun with friends/bf a few times and usually get just under 18.

How far do you people climb during your runs i.e elevation?

My 1st lap starts off at 80ft and I reach around 375ft which I do three laps.

I find it really hard with the hills to reach fast times.

Re-started with interval running again yesterday and hope to do it around 3 times a week now.

I'd forgotten how tough it really was. Really trying to push myself on the sprints.

Safe to say, I needed that peanut butter bagel to refuel afterwards

Hello guys! I like running by the harbour and the promenade here in Hong Kong, but I'm moving to London in September and I'd love some advice on good places to run there (preferably without having to take the tube from UCL!)

Also, I know England gets pretty cold, so how do you runners take the cold? Are there any clothes that you would recommend wearing at certain times of the year?

First sub 30 5k . I got 29:30, really pleased as i was just hoping to get sub 31.
Also just wondering if anyones shoulders ache whilst running? For the past week or so my right shoulder really starts to ache. Anyone got any advice?

Well done with the sub 30! As for the shoulders, it's quite likely you're hunching them when you run. You've got to try and focus on keeping them down and back (something I have completely failed at doing and therefore end up aching every time I run).

Personally I wear leggings under my trackies and add a hoody to my normal running gear. The main advice is to layer up, but remember that you will warm up while you're running as well. Also be weary of the ground, snow's great to run in (not that we're guaranteed any) but ice is bad!

Ok thanks, i do try that but always after they start to hurt so i guess its too late then. I'll try to remember next time

Does anyone get various people shouting "the olympics is that way" "running to london?" comments when they're out running?

Favourite comeback (so far) is "Yeah but I'm stopping off at your mother's/wife's/daughter's house first".
