Re: The Running ThreadLovely. So is that a new PB?(Original post by robo donkey)
Just belted out a 5k in 23:52, was aiming for a sub 25 and smashed it, soooo happy
I ran 14K yesterday but very slowly. First I did 6.4K with my brother in 25 mins - he's not as quick as me but with a 19:07 5K best he's getting there - then did 8K with my mum, who is training for a half marathon.
Now is my day's rest before Parkrun 51 tomorrow. -
Re: The Running ThreadFor 5k yeah it's my PB so far, really happy with it, aiming still for a sub 50 10k next month so it's starting to pay off it seems now, I should really get into more Parkruns(Original post by KingMessi)

Re: The Running ThreadThat's wonderful, congratulations. Which 10K are you doing? Or is it just an individual thing.(Original post by robo donkey)

Parkrun is amazing, definitely the best running event around IMO. Free, every week and such a lovely ambience around the event.

Re: The Running Thread
Reepham 10k, it's in Norfolk
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reepham,_Norfolk
So it'll be relatively flat and quite a nice one hopefully, should be my first race in my clubs colours too, quite excited, really pushing for that elusive sub 50, it'll be brilliant to finally crack it when I do -
Re: The Running Thread17.24 is my PB but usually come in around 17:35(Original post by KingMessi)
I know. What sort of time do you do for the distance? -
Re: The Running ThreadVery, very nice. Was that on track or...?(Original post by Serentonin)

Re: The Running Thread
That's a great time thurin! My best is 22.11 but it's been much longer than that recently. Also, well done for getting a new PB robo donkey!

Not allowed to run for a while
Waiting for some medical results to come back and the doctor said to avoid all exercise until then. I was supposed to do a race tonight- really shouldn't have paid the £15 entry fee in advance

Re: The Running ThreadTrue, but my running training consists of running. No rope climbing, sandbag carrying, spearing throwing, monkey bars, flame jumping... and I doubt my fitness is quite up to your mum's partner's but I'll get there!(Original post by zKlown)
My mother's partner is doing a Spartan Race this month.
He hasn't really done anything different to the training he normally does for a race. The internet is your friend! -
Re: The Running ThreadYeah it was at a meet.(Original post by KingMessi)
Very, very nice. Was that on track or...?
I've done parkrun with friends/bf a few times and usually get just under 18. -
Re: The Running Thread
Hello guys! I like running by the harbour and the promenade here in Hong Kong, but I'm moving to London in September and I'd love some advice on good places to run there (preferably without having to take the tube from UCL!)
Also, I know England gets pretty cold, so how do you runners take the cold? Are there any clothes that you would recommend wearing at certain times of the year? -
Re: The Running ThreadWell done with the sub 30! As for the shoulders, it's quite likely you're hunching them when you run. You've got to try and focus on keeping them down and back (something I have completely failed at doing and therefore end up aching every time I run).(Original post by Tiger_Lilly92)
First sub 30 5k
. I got 29:30, really pleased as i was just hoping to get sub 31.
Also just wondering if anyones shoulders ache whilst running? For the past week or so my right shoulder really starts to ache. Anyone got any advice? -
Re: The Running ThreadPersonally I wear leggings under my trackies and add a hoody to my normal running gear. The main advice is to layer up, but remember that you will warm up while you're running as well. Also be weary of the ground, snow's great to run in (not that we're guaranteed any) but ice is bad!(Original post by asparkyn)

Re: The Running ThreadOk thanks, i do try that but always after they start to hurt so i guess its too late then. I'll try to remember next time(Original post by manx1991)
