Default Re-doing A2 exams after graduating to increase employability??

Hi,

someone I know is on track to graduate in 2010 with a 2:1 degree in management from a top 10-20 uni.

They got at a-level: -
B in business studies
C in general studies
C in ict

and two as levels: -
d in maths
c in sociology

they wish to resit two modules in business studies and one module in ict in summer 2010 or january 2011 if possible. they have looked into it and it is possible.

however, is there much point in doing this? in terms of employment will they look at the new dates on the certificates and see that two courses were done after their degree. is it worth it to give herself more ucas points?

they wish to bring their a level grades up to A, B, C.

she is looking at mainly graduate schemes in london

thanks

What would be the point if she/he already has a 2:1?

i agree with the above poster. it seems like a waste of effort and time. just make sure you get the best degree possible.

A levels don't matter once you've got a degree. How did they get a degree from a top 10-20 uni with those grades? Which uni is it?

They bloody do!

I got a 2.1 from Durham and got A-level grades similar to the OP, I persuaded Durham to let me in despite my grades.

A lot of graduate schemes I've read about seem to be asking for a certain number of UCAS points.

Wow you're one of the lucky ones. It must be rare though, especially considering general studies was one of the A levels. People with 260 points from three A levels usually end up in the "bottom tier" of unis.

Watch out, people will flame you for admitting that there is a higher and lower tier of unis

I did put it in quotation marks because the OP says they went to a "top 10-20" university.

Yes I know what you mean, although there are many people who like to show off that they go to X university but they're studying something so pointless that they're better off getting a much better degree at a much less prestigious university.

She won't be able to resit individual modules after Jan '10 except in maths, as the specifications have now changed.
