Seeing so many posts scattered all over TSR regarding Lpc, I have decided to make a official thread for all discussions related to the LPC.
I am yet to apply for my LPC so I thought maybe this would be a good starting point in deciding where to go, how to fund it and also any other issues which we may face e.t.c.
Well I was chuffed to find out that College of Law is opening in Bristol so I've submitted them as my first choice. Second and third are UWE and Cardiff respectively.
Okay guys I am bit late as I still have not finished my form
Can somebody tell me when is it by I have to pay SRA and what form do I need to fill out for them ? Plus do I fill out the form once I have sent my application of on law cabs for the lpc ?
I don't know about the SRA thing but I am for some reason under the impression that we don't need to worry about that for a while. I don't know where I'm applying yet, but I've filled the rest of the form out, I want to go and do it in London because I miss it but it's sooo much more expensive there
I will be graduatiing with debt anyway and to be honest I don't think its worth it, as I have not even secured a TC yet, I think I will wait to finish my final year then I will apply, if I get a TC and the firm pays then I am sorted. If not then I'll take a year out and perhaps save up for it or look down another career path. I think personally if I take this loan then that would be a very stupid thing to do, its not just worth it at the moment.
Plus why tie yourself down when you have your whole life infront of you.

London is awesome plus it will give you a chance to possible network with others. I wish I could afford it.
If you don't mind me asking, have you secured a Tc yet ?
No, not yet and I'm torn over whether or not to do the LPC if I don't get a TC this year I could take a gap year and paralegal if I don't, or I could find a TC during my LPC which seems to be reasonably common but then again it's quite risky if I end up 5 years down the line still with no TC! So many dilemmas going on in my life right now!
Yeah I love London, even if I don't do the LPC next year I'll be heading back there.

Well I guess its not a bad idea if you can afford it
Can anyone afford to waste £11,000-this is my dilemma haha. I have the money in savings, I'll just be gutted if I don't get a job at the end. I suppose all I can do is improve my CV and work hard to get a distinction on the GDL.

What are you going to do instead if you don't take the LPC?
Work and save up for it, but I will definitely apply at the end of the year for a TC after I have recieved my final results.
If not then perhaps look at another route, many of my friends have become legal advisors for different companies and that is without doing the Lpc. To be honest 11 grand is a lot of money.
Is it possible to withdraw an application once it has been submitted? I am having second thoughts....
Why would you need to withdraw it? You can apply without any obligation to actually do the LPC. If you're having second thoughts then just don't accept any offers when you get them.
I have given it a lot of thought but I am still unable to come to a decision about whether or not to do the LPC. I know that there are people out there who have completed the LPC and do not manage to get a training contract. I do not want to be amongst them!
thought I'd reply to your post as I'm in my third year law LLB at the moment and don't know whether to apply for the lpc or not. (BTW ignore the user name, chosen a while ago )
I haven't secured a training contract yet, I'm thinking £10,000 is a lot of money and a waste if I do the LPC and can't find a job at the end of it.
I dunno whats best though, I want to enter the legal profession obviously but I'm leaning towards another way, perhaps legal advisor/ paralegal, which could work out cheaper.
