Default Anyone get the Blackberry Bold 9700? (Bold 2?) HTC HD2? N900? etc

Came out on T-Mobile today, considering to buy. Online prices aren't too bad...well until you realise its an extra fiver or so for the additional services lol

Any good deals anywhere? Carphone, Phones4u etc don't have it yet, so no really good deals grr!

Direct link doesnt work, go to www.mobile360.co.uk and then select the bold. cheapest price is 30 a month but averages at 27.50 a month after cashback

interesting link, have you used them before?

Unsure on Orange as a network too...and I only heard t-mobile currently had the 9700 (in the papers!)?

Thanks for the pointer though

No doubt it is a solid phone - but - with new phones coming around in the next few months - it makes it very difficult to settle for one now imo. Also, blackberry have yet to upgrade that camera -_-, still on the 3.15mp (although they have added autofocus, image stabilisation and slightly increased resolution compared to the 9000).

I am annoyed by the fact that they haven't made the processor more powerful - especially with 1ghz processors coming out. Really, it just seems like a better looking bold. Your call.

If you are looking for huge customizability, BB OS isn't probably the way to go.

It doesn't really bring much to the table I say, compared to the 9000. It still bugs me that - a phone which is branded for the businessman - still doesn't have a secondary camera, for things like video calls.

yeah this is fair, I'm not totally convinced on the whole Blackberry hype, I would actually use many of the services such as push email, but most people seem to just have it due to the hype...they're not the most user friendly and customisable things either lol.

Was either looking at the 9700, Nokia N900 or the Motorola Droid...not really sure what else is coming out? The wait for high-end phones to release is quite painful, I'm really in need of an upgrade lo

N900 over Droid, Droid's processor is horrible - also looks horrible.

But, 2 phones which I would prefer over the n900, which are to look out for are, the obvious HTC HD2 and also the SE XPERIA 10 (although be weary of reviews of the latter, because it is still in development, so any issues you see in the reviews most likely will be addressed when its ready for release).

Thats actually an improved camera. The 9000 has a 2mp. And do people really use secondary cameras enough to justify having one? I've never seen anyone using one for video calls, and my last nokia had one, that i didn't use once.
Also, although they are often aimed at the corporate market, consumers actually make up something like 80% of new BB subscribers now, so i imagine their strategy is changing somewhat!

As far as looks, I don't think the 9700 looks better at all.

HTC HD2 seems pretty good, not really a fan of touchscreens and would prefer a QWERTY keyboard..plus its windows mobile!? only heard bad things about that lol.

Mostly from people who never used it! The main gripe on windows mobile 6.5 etc - is the UI and touch compatibility. HD2 has HTC Sense - it makes it just as useable as android. There are things WinMob has advantages over say, Android - and not just stability. Android apps, run ontop of virtual machines - which has its advantages, such as making it easy to develop software for it - but it means it is far slower than WM devices for non-native apps. HTC HD2, has done a miracle - in regards to how they re-skinned - to be honest - I have changed my mind - I am happy it is a WinMob 6.5 (will be upgradeable to Win 7) then android. WinMob gets too knocked - and if you see their main excuses - it is due to (and I admit it does exist), some ugly interfaces on some parts of the OS - albeit most of it is covered up. Their is still far more things available to the WinMob - and why people say Android is so customisable as if WinMob isn't. You can do everything on WinMob.

If you do some research, you will be amazed at some of the things developed and can be added to WM mobiles. I have yet to see anything from Android, in terms of apps, which made me go "Wow". Now that the new WinMob phones, that are coming out, will be hosting a 1GHZ processor - It gets pretty damn exciting imho.

But it is early days for Android - and I am sure, next year - we will see it developing into something pretty crazy. But for the moment, I think I would be more happy with WinMob. Their are things even WebOS, symbian etc have which android don't yet - I am sure in the future it will be developed, but can you wait . Android 2.0 is looking nice though.

Sorry, I meant as in - the BB line - haven't excelled from the 3.15mp camera, that exists in their other phones on the line - such as the 8900 - when many manufacturers are getting 12MP and so fourth.

As for use of video calls, I would think - a business phone should have one anyway - I mean why not - not like they have added that much to their line that they can't squeeze it in.

At the moment I'm trying to decide which network to pick it up on, having chose it over waiting for the e72.

Are the rumours that T-mobile have better hsdpa speeds true?

Interesting stuff, think I'm going to either get the HTC HD2 or the Nokia N900...N900 seems to be getting better reviews in comparisons between the two.

I was going to go for the N900 initially as well. Some things have swayed me to the HD2 although.

1) Maemo, it is a new cool OS - but as it is new - it is uncertain how much support it will get in the future and it won't be as developed as other OS's.

2) It has no digital compass

3) It has a resistive touch screen - no multi-touch

4) HTC sense on HD2

5) As far as I am aware, it isn't Java enabled

6) 600 MHZ processor on it, against the 1GHZ of HD2

7) Screen size of HD2 cannot go unnoticed as with its thinness

Looking at the videos of it, I think some of the things look really cool - like some web browsing facilities etc - though I don't know how much I like the interface, you know like that 3D objects on clouds etc - it is something cool and unique yes - but is it just me or does it not look that good?

Their are things that I like about the N900 a lot. Secondary camera, 32GB built in memory. Keyboard

I had a huge struggle on the decision between these 2 - especially since I did want a keyboard. But, in the end, I think the HD2 edged it.
