I mean, obviously it can really improve one's appearance, but doesn't one's "real" face start to look very drab in comparison? I thought it made one look older faster, too?
Also, how do people manage to spare the time not only to put it on, but also take it off? It just seems to be so much of a hassle (please correct me if I'm wrong.)
Granted, I'm not very good with cosmetics so maybe that's why I don't understand, but someone professional once did my make-up, and, though I looked quite nice, it still felt really fake - like wearing a mask

.
Thoughts?
(I only ever use sunscreen/moisturiser and lip balm, because I personally prefer being natural, but am I missing out on something really good here? Thanks!

I don't think my 'real face' looks drab in comparison to my made-up face, but the reality is that I do have a problem with blemishes, and the texture is very uneven. As strange as it sounds, I don't mind going unmade up around my fiancé and close family, as I know 100% that they don't make judgements about how my skin looks when it isn't made up, but I would never go unmade up to work, as I just think my skin looks better, nicer and more professional when I put in more of an effort. Another reason to go unmade up around my fiancé and family is because I know it's important to have a few 'naked face' days a week if I want my skin to get better, as it's probably good to let the skin breathe a bit (it is getting better, but slowly).
I don't find it takes me very long to put makeup on (I tend to do it in the metro on my way to work anyway, so it's not like getting up half an hour earlier just to do it) and it's even quicker to remove. You can often even remove it just with a normal cleanser if you don't feel like using a separate makeup remover.
I also agree with whoever it was who said that it doesn't feel like a chore to apply it; I'm interested in makeup and have fun applying it, choosing colours etc. Overall I'd say that I wear makeup not just to make me look better but also because it's fun and I like to make an effort too.
Heavy foundations may feel a bit mask-like, but they shouldn't usually - if something feels heavy or fake then it's probably of quite low quality.

Yep, that's definitely only if you do it badly!
If people have bad skin, it's more likely to be because they don't remove their makeup properly each night, rather than because of the makeup itself. Or else they're just like me, whereby the bad skin barely seems to improve no matter what they do.

Please see the above. It's a complete myth that wearing makeup makes your skin worse.

TO COVER UP SPOTS. Sorry to shout, but I'd have thought that this much was obvious.

Surely the contrast of black eyeliner against pale skin just makes you look MORE pale?

Not if done properly.

What a ridiculous thing to say. I was bullied at school and so would never make fun of anyone (especially over something as trivial as whether or not they wear makeup), as I know how awful it feels.
