Default Some Freeview channels are just black - anyone else?

On Freeview (on both the downstairs and upstairs TVs), the following channels are simply black:

ITV3 (channel 10)

QVC (16)

Virgin1 (20)

bid tv (23)

Fiver (30)

Five USA (31)

Quest (38)

Incidentally, Virgin1+1 isn't black but shows the standard 'no information' screen.

I'm in the very north of Oxfordshire, near Buckinghamshire.

Anyone else experiencing this?

And yes, I've tried retuning.

Is 'black' a metaphor for 'stopped working'? Yeah my phone went black a couple of weeks ago so now I got a new one.

A retune might sort it out or perhaps there's something wrong with your aerial.

I had this recently too. My dad moved the aerial a bit and it's better and I retuned it LOTS of times prior to this.

And yes, I've tried retuning.

First - rescan again.
Second - try a different box
Third - do a complete re-install

If none of these work, then it is most likely a transmitter fault.

All those channels except Virgin 1+1 are on the same mux.

V1+1 is off air at this time of day anyway.

This is what my boyfriend's said: try a different different aerial socket. If that doesn't work, there could be a problem with the cables leading to the aerial or a problem with the aerial itself as it's not picking up certain channels on certain frequencies.
He's a bit of a geek

I only have one aerial socket and this appears to be a problem other people are having so I don't think it's to do with just my cabling.

If anyone else has a similar problem, you may need to check whether your transmitter has changed the frequency that it transmits as part of the digital switchover. My local transmitter is Winter Hill (in the northwest) and it changed the frequency that the BBC channels use on 4 November. It took a full deletion of all channels and a manual retune to get them back.

As someone said that the channels effected were all on the same mutliplex, it was likely to be a signal strength issue - so if it happens again, you might need to adjust your aerial, upgrade your wiring from your aerial from standard coaxial to cable / satellite coaxial wire.
