I'm currently in Year 11 and considering my options for next year. At the moment, I want to study:
English Literature
English Language
History
Psychology
I want to study English Lit because I've always loved English, I'm good at it and it's regarded highly by universities. I'm taking English Language seperately because its where my passion in English lies and in the future, I hope to go on to study either English or History so I wanted to take both English subjects seperately to give me the best possible understanding of both Lit & Lang. I want to take History for the same reasons really, good at it, regarded highly and love learning about it. I never really have a boring History lesson..
I want to take Psychology because ever since my mum became a counsellor, I've been really interested in what she brings home and I've always wanted to find out why people do things and what sometimes MAKES them do it.
Basically, are these good choices? Because I know English Lang & Psychology are sometimes not regarded too highly.
They are good You want to do them then go for it although AFAIK you don't need English language in order to study it at uni as long as you have Eng Lit
They're good. For top unis, however, they don't really like to see the Englishes separately. You could replace Language for a sciencey subject, but it doesn't really matter! You seem happy with them so don't let anyone persuade you otherwise!
English has always been my favourite subject and I'd rather study them seperately to get as much depth as I possibly can in the subject and learn as much as I can in English.
I don't find Maths or the Sciences interesting at all and I'm not very good at them. I've ALWAYS been a Humanities/English top student.. it's always been my forte.

If you're happy and interested in your subject choices then there's really no reason to change them. It looks like a good combination of subjects.
If you're taking only 3 subjects into your second year. Then I strongly suggest dropping English Language, its considered a soft subject.
But good A2 grades in English Lit, psychology and history. And an AS in English Lang, will get you good places for English courses at respected Unis. But its a competitive and demanding course
And remember English Lit exams, can be tricky, soemtimes it is better to be conservative and stick to answering the question closely, rather than going off in small tangents, however spectacular your arguments or writing may be.
Thanks for all the help so far.
I've also taken an AS early in Religious Studies and where I'm going to study, you get to take up another AS Level in your second year, when you drop one of your subjects from your first year, so I'll come out with either:
3 A2's & 3 AS
OR
4A2's and 2 AS
Do you think it's worth continuing A2 Religious Studies a year early, or will it not really matter whether its at AS or A2 level seen as its an extra?
yeah they sound good; why do you enjoy English so much?
I don't know why, I've just always enjoyed it. It's always been something I'm really good at, but also the one subject I've always been interested in. It seems to come naturally and I've always loved Creative Writing and Reading so I guess my outside interests fit well with the subject. Unlike most people, I absolutely love essays and long coursework projects and can easily write for pages and pages because I have really nice handwriting and enjoy putting alot of attention on my presentation too. However, I was surprised that I enjoyed reading and analysing 'Great Expectations' so much. I also think correct english language is so important; I hate all these slang words and abbreviations that are around thesedays. Basically, I just love reading and writing, so really enjoy both aspects of the subject
I would do something else instead of Psychology and look at Psych in your spare time tbh. It's not so much skills-based as info based, so you can easily learn some veeery interesting stuff simply through reading and there's a host of books aimed at both the basics and more advanced stuff, so you'll probably get a wider and more indepth view than you will on the A level syllabus
Then you'll have an extra subject slot but of course if there's nothing else your interested in that doesn't matter, although as others have said Eng Lang and Psych aren't THAT highly regarded, so if you're gunna be looking at a top uni then taking both might decrease your chances. But ofc that isn't everything
