Default A-Level Choices

Hi everyone, I understand you get a lot of these threads and must be physically sick of reading them but here is another one anyway.

My choices: English Literature, Geography, Mathematics & Pyschology.

I intend to study Geography at university.

Looks like a good selection of choices. You may want to consider Economics or Physics (or Biology) as these tie in well with certain areas of Geography.

they sound like good choices and you have a good balance, but wouldnt environmental science or geology relate better to a geography degree than psychology?

Looking good. May consider dropping Psychology or Maths as there are choices that tie in just as well/better. Maths will be hard.

I'll probably drop Maths. What subjects would you say tie in better?

Environmental Science/Geology at A-Level?

Our school doesn't offer that.

That's a good combination of subjects. Will you carry on with all 4 subjects to A2 or will you drop one?

It depends how I cope with the subjects.

I'll most likely just take three subjects.

I'm interested in the 2nd tier universities.

Depends on the kind of geography you want to study. Physical geology, maybe a science. Human geography, Sociology is kind of like History-lite in that respect.

You have a strong subject combination and as long as you're happy with each A Level that you've chosen then you should go with it. Maybe you could have a look at the websites of universities that interest you, most if not all have information on their entry requirements including A Level choice information. Are you happy with your choices or do you feel uncertain about any of them?

I feel a bit uncertain about Maths.

I am currently at a grade B and have two tests left to take.

I'm not sure the exact UMS needed for an A but my teacher said I should get it.

But I really enjoy Maths, is there anything you would recommend instead of it?

HAHA !!! I dont think you have anything to worry about.
I've taken Art (yes i know waste of time but its fun , Geography, and Law
and intent to study Geography at a half decent university.
I spoke to Sheffield and Newcastle on open days and have emailed numerous universities asking for advise on my subjects to see if they were compatible to study a BA Geography degree at university and they all said it was fine. As long as i got the grades they'd assess us all individually and dont think too much about subjects. As long as there a geography related subject amongst them.

I've looked at some universities for BSc and they only require Geography.

Some people find Maths at GCSE hard but then go find A Level Maths easy while others are the opposite and find the GCSE easy but the A Level hard. It certainly depends on each person and if you enjoy Maths and really want to do it at A Level then you should take it.

Like some else mentioned earlier you could switch it to Economics or one of the sciences. Chose subjects that you're interested in, after all you're going to be studying it for the next two years.

Economics does sound interesting.

What does it involve other than Maths?
