Default what is worse, loving someone and not being loved back or other way around?

The question is in the title really.. what do you think is worse? being in love with someone and not being loved back, or knowing that someone loves you and knowing that you don't feel the same?

Until very recently I thought I'd much rather reject than be rejected..I mean, who doesn't like to know that someone likes them? But I think I've changed my mind

I'd rather reject than be rejected, though I know it's hard having to hurt something. ♥

It depends who the person was in the second option - I'd rather be rejected by someone not close to me than have to reject someone close to me.

I'd say it's probably being in love and not being loved back.

Someone else's pain can upset you, but it wouldn't be worse than feeling it yourself...

For me it would be being in love and not being loved back. Though, I'm in a situation at the moment where a close friend I am pretty certain has a pretty big thing for me at the moment (though he'd probably never admit it), but I don't like him that way back. I wouldn't want to mess up our friendship though, which could happen either way if things didn't work out, I suppose.

The first from a purely one-sided perspective. I suppose in the latter case it depends how the person acts - if you have a high guilt reflex and you know they're in a total state about you then it's going to be pretty distressing. However It's a ***** few hours if you have to reject someone who really loves you, but it's more than a ***** few hours for the other person, it can be weeks months or years for them. The experience I've had of one-sided infatuation is that it's a pretty epically bad feeling and pretty much surpasses feeling guilty about stuff by a long way.

So yes, the first

Loving someone and have them not love you back. Though I might be a bit biased because I haven't experienced the second, but even so. I think I might be a bit selfish in choosing this, I suppose, but I know that the first one is the worst pain I've felt so far in my life.

Being in love with someone who doesn't feel the same way about you/is unsure feels really painful. Especially when you know you could easily get someone else instead...

Both aren't exactly pleasant lol. I think for me it is worse liking someone and not having the feelings returned, that hurts a lot.

Obviously the former, inasmuch as it is at least possible to wind up 'rejecting' persons you couldn't care less about.

I think 90% of people would say " Loving someone and being rejected " is a lot worse - and I'd agree.
