what actually can keep Rafa as Liverpool manager until the end of the season?

Even still, he has been given enough time to build a decent side and only in one season of his time as manager did Liverpool have a good EPL challenge? is the writing on the wall for him?

If Liverpool lose to Fiorentina or Fiorentina beat Lyon, and Liverpool lose 2 more EPL games I think it's over for him. He won't be here next season anyway, unless he pulls off something unimaginable and wins the EPL.

He has a long-term contract with Liverpool, it would be costly for the owners to sack him. Also, realize that Liverpool are playing most of their matches without Gerrard and/or Torres at the moment.

Yeah, the owners aren't going to shell out compensation money as high as what they would have to pay if they sack Rafa.

No, I doubt they could afford it. So at the moment, the best thing they could do is give him some support and make the best of it. Because he isn't a bad manager.

You have to bear in mind the injury crisis, no Gerrard, Torres, i think glen johnson is also injured, as long as they have them three playing well and the unproven Aquilani, results should improve.

Rafa has brilliant backing from Liverpool fans. Generally the blame is pointed at the American owners.
It tends to be other club fans who are obsessed with how crap Rafa is and how poor Liverpool fare.

I seriously can't see Rafa being sacked or leaving for a while yet. Even if the board decide to get rid of Rafa, the next manager would have the same resources to work with until the next transfer window, and even then a substantial change wouldn't take place with the limited money available to us.

Financial constraints though - he's got the 5th highest squad value in the league and perhaps more tellingly, the wage bill.

If you knew how badly Liverpool has been run in the past 15 years (it's all coming out now) you wouldn't be surprised that we haven't won the league.

I don't think that Liverpool could actually get a better manager at this stage in the season, or a manager that could do any better with the resources they have. Along with the amount of compensation they'd have to pay, I think it would be a silly mistake to make.

Rafa won't be sacked, well not by the current owners anyway, and he most probably wouldn't be sacked by the next ones, if there are any new owners that is. Real may come knocking and that may prove to be what makes him go, but I don't think he'll go to them due to his fight for control at Liverpool, and the complete lack of it at Madrid. Sadly at the moment this is starting to get shades of his spell at Valencia.....

Yes, the squad lacks depth but he has to be given time, and money, to mold the squad, esp seeing as how the structure of the club was altered when he was handed the bumper contract. Everybody makes mistakes in the transfer market, the name Djemba springs to mind...... one of the reasons why Rafa's stand out more is due to the fact that the club is, and has been, poorly run. Liverpool need a new stadium, and were promised one by the cowboys, a promise they reneged upon once they realized that they were not going to make a quick buck.

He has been pretty piss poor in the transfer market over the years imo.
