Newton's third law dictates that for every action there is an equal, opposite and co-linear reaction.

Bernoulli's principle dictates that, in the case of a lift-generating body in a flowing fluid, the 'action' force is a pressure force.

So I'm not sure what you mean when you say it's more about Newton than Bernoulli. Newton tells us why we see a reaction of lift to an action of pressure forces, but Bernoulli tells us that it IS a pressure force in the first place.

At least, that's my understanding of some of it.

Bernoullis principle is based on the fact that air travels faster at the top of the wing than at the botton hence pessure is greater at the bottom than at the top. Newtons law is about action and reaction, the wing 'compresses' the air underneath it ie pushes it down and experiences an equal and opposite reaction=lift. This explains why flat surfaces can create lift and why changing the angle of attack changes the lift. i could expain it in greater detail but its late at night, and you have internet, which is not just for porn.

I'm also tantalisingly close to having a degree in Aerospace Engineering, so I'm not quite in need of this explanation in the first place.

This is what I said.

The Bernoulli principle allows us to explain that the forces that act on an airfoil are pressure forces which result from the pressure/velocity profile of the airfoil.

Newton's third law allows us to explain why these pressure forces produce lift.

So I'm not quite sure what it would mean to say that Newton's third law has 'more to do with lift generation than bernoulli's principle'.
I learnt that playing long ball is the most effective tactic, along with long shots.

first law of thermodynamics: energy is conserved: du=dq+dw

As a result of the number of people who have attempted to use a misunderstanding of the 1st law to prove that God exists, I must add to this 4 simple words:

Energy and Mass is conserved IN A CLOSED SYSTEM.

second law: entropy increases

Gotta love a bit of thermo

Again, must add the same four words!

There are particles called spin particles (electrons and protons are such particles) that, when turned through 360 degrees, do not come back to where they started.

Also, a single photon (that is, a packet of light energy, basically) is the capability of passing through two slits at the same time and interfering with itself. Mathematically it passes through both slits, only one slit, only the other, and neither of them, all at the same time.

Welcome to Quantum Mechanics.

If you put snails in a a paper box over night with , a turnip , carrot and a some meat, when you wake up they will have eaten the box not the food.

The three laws of thermodynamics state:

1) You cannot create any new energy
2) No matter how efficient an energy transfer is, some energy will always be wasted
3) It is impossible to reduce any object to absolute zero (i.e. to have no heat at all)

These are often paraphrased as:

1) You can't win
2) You can't break even
3) You can't get out of the game

The brain itself can't actually feel pain. The pain you feel when something goes through it is actually from a film thing surrounding it.
(Sorry, didn't explain that too well.)
The saying 'throw the baby out with the bath water' came from around the 15/1600s when people didn't bathe very often. An entire family would share one bath of water, with the father/head of the household going first and everyone else descending in order. The baby went last, and by this point the water would have been so dirty that you could literally throw the baby out with the bath water if you weren't careful.

Most of the time, a promise by one party not to enforce all or even some of the terms of a contract is binding; but this is never true for debts.

Ie: if you work for me and we have a contract that says that I will pay you €50 for something and I promise that I will give you €70, I am bound by that promise and have to give you your €70 when you fulfill your task. If I owe you €70 and you promise me that I can pay back only €50, then I still have to pay the €70 (with the notable exception in which you ask for something else in return: €20 and a cup of tea, for example).

The date of creation was found, in 1650, to be October 23rd 4004BC at 12.00. This was later changed to 9am to fit in with Oxford's timetable of starting classes at that time.

I thought it was something to do with miscarriages whilst bathing. :eek3:

Studies show that whatever class we are; Upper, Middle or Working; Most people will identify themselves as 'average' or 'middling' even if they fit the definition of impovrished or very wealthy. The main reason for this is probably that we surround ourselves with individuals or similar to us in status and power which leads us to percieve that we are 'average' as our everyday experiences limit us to this group of people similar to us.
In China it's considered offensive to give someone a clock as a present!
