I'd like to point out that Bingley Grammar School is not a public or private school, it is a state school funded by the government, it just kept it's name. So stop making assumptions that the people on the trip were spoilt and rich because it is just a normal school.

What legendary teachers.

In all seriousness though - sex show, too far. But smoking and drinking? They're 16-18 and old enough to make their own decisions.
I fail to see the issue when they are 16+. I am pretty sure they have seen worse in their own homes :h:

It's funny; people need to chill
the news of the world often sells papers based on how much sex they write about. to do this they often have to exaggerate.

so i don't really have an opinion in terms of how i think it's fairly likely that some pupils skived away from the planned events to see the sex show and the teachers got suspended through this. I think this is more likely. i mean, how many pupils get deliberately lost on school trips like this to go and have more fun than they could have done with the rest of the group.
when I was 16 we went on a school trip to Switzerland and we were allowed to smoke and go out on a pub crawl around the little village in the hills. Good times.

I don't know why people get so frustrated about this.
who cares, if one wants to see somewheres culture then they must look at all of its aspects not just the nice clean touristy bits. like if someone wanted to experience Britain's culture they ought to walk around Moss Side as well along Pall Mall

My school took us to Amsterdam when we were in year 10. Fatal error... our school was supplied with some very nice weed over the following weeks.

 oh wow.

You are getting rep and getting quoted in my sig.

that trip was probably the best in year 5 we saw everything but the teachers didnt know in fact i didnt have a teacher then so i just left school and went to see a sex show but it definately improved me
This is how it should be done in Britain - showing them the real world!! (I am joking btw, I know a primary school teacher that took 6 year olds to an operational abbatoir. My cousin subsequently grew up to be a vet surprise surprise.)
Where's the problem?

My school outings consisted of going to the countryside and looking at cows all day. Had my teacher taken me to a sex show, I'd have probably jizzed in my pants.

Why? They're legally old enough to do it themselves. Stop being such a prude.

It was sarcasm.

When I was 16 I went on a school trip to Russia which of course involved imbibing large quantities (i.e. far too much :frown:) of vodka. It's not like we did it in secret either, it was all done with the teachers' full knowledge. The hotel had porn on the TV too, but the teachers didn't buy it for us. Although one teacher did give us a tip on how to reset the minute long "trial period" without getting up to change the channels.

Underage drinking was a normal part of sixth form life. All the events organised by the social committee were planned with it in mind. Sure they were planned by the students, but the teachers were fully aware of what they were and even attended them.

That was my point exactly.

Oooh your teacher's cool, are you sure he didn't move to this school?!
