Re: The second exciting instalment of ManChat!I know of two people doing Russian at Manchester.(Original post by Aemiliana)
Haha, have fun
Yeah, it's put-up-able. I like brewing all my teas for ages though
Do you know of the other TSR user that does Russian (and another language IIRC) at Manc?
Ancient history
Anatheme and Mimimimi. I shall be attempting to lure them round with cider also.
Sounds good, what year you going into? I'm kind of doing year 3 1/2 (going part-time). -

Second. I didn't know you could do part time and live in halls. I think if I ever had to go part time I'd massively fail - I'm bad enough at doing my work as it is

I suppose I might do - might improve my shoddy work ethic.
That's a good point, I haven't actually told accommodation I'm going part-time (it was a recent decision and I had to apply for halls back in february). Still, I've got the offer now, so it should be alright (I hope), especially since I'm doing it for medical reasons - want to decrease stress to make it less likely my depression comes back. It is in no way just an excuse for me to spend half my time baking and brewing cider.

Re: The second exciting instalment of ManChat!Well, I'm the OP, so don't hold out hope for that.(Original post by superwolf)

I'm sure it'll be fine? Do you use the counselling service? I was pretty impressed with them to be honest. Haha, of course it isn't

Well maybe I will join, if you promise I'll be in good (i.e. lazy) company.
Yeah I'm sure it'll be alright, might just not tell them and see if they work it out for themselves. I've never tried the counselling service, but I'm registering with the disability office and they recommended it too, so I might give it a go. -

They probably won't, to be fair. Give them a go, they're really lovely and sorted loads of workshops and a DSO meeting etc out for me. I never went to any of them though because I'm chicken****. -
Re: The second exciting instalment of ManChat!
That sounds like my idea of hell. I'm shunning freshers that night and going to a house warming, though.
If it sounds like your sort of thing, buy a ticket. Even if no one you 'know' (I'm assuming you're a fresher and so won't actually know anyone), it might be a good way to meet people. -
Re: The second exciting instalment of ManChat!
Aargh freshers' party.
I'll be steering well clear. I shall however be going along to the freshers' fair, to see if I can beat my personal record of free bottle openers collected in one day (my current record standing at about five). Might also attempt to sign up for a society or two while I'm at it.

Re: The second exciting instalment of ManChat! This is my plan exactly! Though I want to actually get free stuff this year - when and where is best to go for free stuff?(Original post by superwolf)

Just worked out which bus to take to my local asda, how much it costs and when it runs.

Re: The second exciting instalment of ManChat!Probably best to get up early and go, to try and avoid the crowds. I shall also wear my stompiest boots, so I can kick those puny freshers out my way.(Original post by Aemiliana)

Not sure where is best in terms of free stuff, I was just planning on wandering around and grabbing anything I can.
Is that the asda in Moss Side? If so would you care to share said information with somebody too lazy to work these things out for themself?
-
Re: The second exciting instalment of ManChat! No, the one closest to me is in Longsight, you may well be on the same bus route as me. It's the number 197 from I have no clue how to get to the Moss Side one by bus - the one time I tried, I ended up by the MMU SU, miles away from my accommodation!(Original post by superwolf)

Route map
Timetable
Ticket Prices - scroll to the page that says 'Service 197: Manchester*‐*Stockport'
The Asda is part of the shopping centre in Longsight (see map), you would need to get off at Slade Lane, which is stop number 7. It'll cost you less than £2.Last edited by Aemiliana; 02-09-2011 at 16:03. -
Re: The second exciting instalment of ManChat!
Manchester is probably the best uni in England in my opinion! Great people, great city and great weather. (Maybe I lied about the last one).
There is a website created just for the students in Manchester called StudentMap. It's all about the student community (Discounts, jobs, events etc.)
I hope that you like the site.
