This is The Student Room. Perhaps you should Google 'cost of UK brain tumour surgery' or something. Or ask your parents or a teacher.

I am in shock, that TSR was a point of contact for such an issue.
p.s. is price is a concern, consider Israel.
Reply 5
That is an impossible question to answer. There are so many variables it would be pure guess work.

I know its pretty useless to ask on here, as I am not sure if there any professional medics on here or not. Well the email I got was in the middle of the night, so I thought maybe I'd try my luck, never mind.

I did do a quick google search before deciding to ask on here, but to no luck, yeah I thought about asking one of my tutors for medical negligence and also a few a few medic freinds. Somebody is bound to know.

The reason why I asked on here, is that there are so many students and somebody might have some kind of experience with this or come across a similar situation.
Well over £100,000.

Probably much much more.
LOL @ whoever neg me..... my answers are from looking it up for OP.... Israel was quoted by one website to be around 20K quid thus why i posted that.

As for the first site i put up, i figure they would be better to ask than TSR.

Christ TSR is full of ******* immature brats.

Hi guys

Just recieved a email from a freind who lives abroad that her cousin has brain tumour, it is in the initial stages. If they decide to get it operated in Pakistan there is only a 40% chance of success.

If cost is a factor:
They do advanced neurosurgery in India ( medical tourism to India is common from the US )
and can do it for a fraction of the cost of the UK.
http://www.apollohospitals.com/neurology/neurosurgery
Expect to pay around US$ 10,000

If cost is no concern:
Go to Zurich. This is the most famous neurosurgery department in the world.
Dr Mahmut Gazi Yasargil, the inventor of microneurosurgery and the god of neurosurgeons everywhere, worked there.
http://www.en.usz.ch/MedicalServices/OtherDepartments/Pages/Neurosurgery.aspx
Expect to pay around US$ 1000,000 to US$ 5000,000.

lol wtf :rofl2:

I'm not usually bothered by negs but WTF if you're gonna neg have a good reason for it rather than

"Keep your deluded answers to yourself mate. If you cant help then learn to shut the **** up."

I mean... if you dont like my oppinion or me, go ahead neg me into oblivion but my facts are quite accurate i assure you

The risk of infection is higher in India than in the UK.

The risk of insolvency is higher in Zurich than in the UK.

But I think they will be more keen on the US/UK rather than Israel, Mexico and Turkey. I know for certain I am not going to get a definite answer on here but just wanted a rough estimate but I will comfirm that from more relaible and accuarte sources.

I seriously doubt it would cost that much. I think the most expensive operation is a cochlear implant and that's around the £20,000 mark.

I never said price was a issue, just need a bit more certainty of success.
