Also, Steve Bruce is reportedly set to be named Hull City boss tomorrow - I'd be fairly confident in his ability to get them back into the top flight.

Aston Villa are still in talks with Lambert but also reportedly interested in the Espanyol manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Have been preaching Lambert for months and would absolutely love the deal to go through. Can't really see how it won't as he's even gone so far as resigning in order to avoid his new club having to pay compensation.

The foreign managers are exciting to be linked with but I think we need a safe pair of hands for a few years, hopefully we can keep hold of him.

To be fair, the facepalms at the name changes have been happening ever since it became the Worthington Cup - the new sponsors are an attempt to re-popularise the competition by getting people talking about it, which seems to have worked.

I can't wait for the day Disney get round to sponsoring it, so that we can truly call it the Mickey Mouse Cup. :teeth:

:rofl2: That would be absolutely epic!

I'd agree Capital One Cup sounds rubbish, though. Doesn't even have a ring to it.

    Hi chaps!

As some of you may know, I've begun a football blog with a few of the lads from here. Some of whom you guys will know – JK. and Colonel certainly - not sure about some of the others, they’re not all football forum regulars but certainly household names on TSR! We've been in business for about 4 months now and it's all going well, we're growing well, good traffic on the site, etc.

The blog centres around African/Asian/Arab football – at the time we created it, we had to find something that was unique and other blogs didn’t quite offer or we just wouldn’t have had the audience, as there are plenty of sites/blogs who already cover Premiership football and cover it extremely well. So, we mostly posted about the Africa Cup of Nations for the first two months and bits of Asian/Arab here and there. Now that we have an established-ish audience, we’re starting to branch out a little and this is where some of you will hopefully come in.

We’re now opening the door for contributors write stuff about Euro 2012 or just to ramble off more general football thoughts. If you’re interesting in writing something or have a question to ask, feel free to PM me on here or contact us via our details on the site. Writers of all levels are welcome! If you do want to write something always contact us beforehand, just to avoid a situation where two people write about the same topic!

How come england always get a doddle of a group in WC qualifying?
    It is ****ing annoying.

And Northern Ireland also. The amount of doddle groups that team gets thrown into is ridiculous. Each time they squander it also. Pathetic excuse for a team they are.

But England always harp on about how they are in the 'group of death' yet they face 'giants' such as Andora etc. They are in with Poland and Ukraine this time, certainly niether is a dud team in comparision to Northern Ireland or Luxemburg for example, however England always cry about how they have the best players, the best team, how they will 'do it this time' etc, yet coin groups like this the 'group of death'

    pathetic.

Aren't they seeded groups so that this is the case? Otherwise France, Portugal, Spain, Germany etc. would all face the possibility of not qualifying.

    Next years front 4's.

    #Chelsea; Mata, Hazard, Hulk, Torres.
#Man United; Nani, Rooney, Valencia, Kagawa.
#Man City; Nasri, Aguero, Tevez, Silva

Buzzing for the Prem to start next year. Which front 4 is the strongest, in order?

Chelsea's is the worst - I don't think Hazard will live up to the hype, for his first season at least, and unless Torres suddenly returns to Liverpool form then they won't be challenging.

I'm obviously biased but I think United's is actually better than City's - Kagawa has an amazing goals/assists record for someone who's not even a striker and Valencia was the best winger in the league for the last 3 months. But Nasri isn't up to the standard of the other three - if they got a new left winger - Bale maybe, then City's would be the best.

Just seen the Englandfans membership has gone up to £75. What a joke! I was thinking about going to see the Sweden away friendly in November since I figured it would be exciting, but being charged £75 just to gain access to tickets? I'd rather pay a tout on the door!

Suppose they're keeping the away fans to the hardcore sect, which I should have no problem with. After all, assuming we'd want to turn up to Wembley for umpteen dull kickabouts is no different to watching our club team play uninteresting home games..
