Re: The Ultimate Football Thread VIIWe won the one that mattered.(Original post by Economist)
Remind me how Utd got on against the top 4 finishers last year in the league? Looks like the trend has continued this year, a lucky 2-1 and two losses
Of course, it was down to luck that your Arsenal team couldn't take their chances against United and capitulated at the back. Oh dear. -
Re: The Ultimate Football Thread VIIMatters to us, of course. Why would we care who comes 2nd?(Original post by Economist)
Matters to who? If you'd taken care of Liverpool Chelsea may have finished 2nd, can you rely on Utd for anything?
Had our results against Liverpool and Chelsea been reversed, we wouldn't have won the league. Chelsea would have. We got the points in the games that mattered. -

The result today may have absolutely no bearing on the title, but you are treating it like it mattered, the big 4 games mattered when you played them last season and you failed in general -

United are just as at fault for letting Chelsea romp off with the league as Arsenal are.
Just count yourselves lucky for only having to deal with one dodgy refereeing decision... and you couldn't even manage that. -
Re: The Ultimate Football Thread VIIDid you miss my point asking why would we care who came 2nd?(Original post by Economist)

The only "big 4" games that mattered to us last season were the Chelsea ones. Same with this season. Our games against Liverpool and Arsenal have as much bearing on the title as ours against West Ham and Stoke. -

You can count yourself lucky that you lost today and deserved to lose. -
