Help in deciding University......

I have posted a similar thread in a university forum.. I dint know from where to get the quick response.. Sorry Mods

I have to decide between Hertfordshire and Teesside for Computer Science.. Both are placed at around 55 to 60 in league tables.. both are considered good in CS.. I am confused

Which has a better repute over the other? if that could help? :s-smilie:

HELP.. I am at your mercy

I am an international student. Teesside will cost me 9800 Pound (Tuition + Accommodation) and Hertfordshire will cost me 11900 Pounds (Tuition + Accommodation)...

I cannot visit the universities.. I am thousands of miles away from them.....:frown:

Agreed with ily_em, sounds like both are going to be very similar course-wise, so now's the point to start thinking which is going to be the best place to live. Visiting's the most important thing so you can get a feel for the uni and the surrounding area :top: some places look great on paper but don't feel right when you visit...and some places look rubbish on paper and have a really nice feel when you get there, gotta remember ou'll be living there for at least 3 years :yep: you could also think about whether there's any unique experience you could gain at either uni, is there a certain module that appeals to you at one that isn't done at the other? or is there the chance for some work experience or some time in another country? things like that can help make a decision easier

I don't know anyone at Hertfordshire, but a lot from my school go to Teeside and then all love it. Not sure how much work they actually do though!

Well if your only deciding factor is cost then maybe Teeside? If you can't visit them then have a look at the TSR info on them and maybe ask in the forums what students think of them.

Or maybe look into what the actualy towns are like and what facilites are there, as well as the facilities in the unis.

There is a point; it's not all about reputation. Seeing as they have a similar reputation you need to pick the one you think you will like the best. You don't want to spend three years of you life hating the uni/course, which could also affect your final grade if you're not motivated to work. Just look on their websites in close detail at the courses to see which one you like better, have a look at what facilities they have, what the accomodation's like (the should be pics on their sites) etc etc.

I think most uni's have their prospectuses on their websites, why not have a look there? Most stuff in a prospectus can be seen on the websites anyway, don't worry about it too much if you haven't received one
